for older style: mine has gotta be the ZX7-RR (the ones from 1995 /1996).

I know they're old, but they have the classic look to 'em, and have won so many open class championships in the past.

my other ultimate fave's are the new kawi 636, and the yamaha YZFR1 (the black flames edition), my friend has a R6 black flames edition, and it's a sweet looking bike!

nope.. I mean R7

ridden by one of the Gobert brothers in WSB before they stopped racing em. You could only buy one directly from Yamaha if you had a racing license.

oh!

that's one crazy bike.

i guess i learn something new everyday in this profession:dunno:

what years were they made in? are they still being made?

prosh
07-23-2003, 03:13 PM
They're a few years old. I think they raced em in '00-'01. Not to mention they're like worth $75,000 to buy one today. :)

for tech data

http://www.mtv411.com/motorcycle/pictures/yamaha/yzf-r7-750-OWO2.htm

I've seen some ppl who think they're cool and removed the 6 decal from their R6's and threw on a 7. Another silly thing I've seen someone do is redoing the fairings etc on a Hayabusa and calling it an R13 LoL ... Hilarity ensues!

ok.... so it's european model then...
that's neat!

europeans get so much cooler bikes than us... like the fazer 600, and the aprilla two strokes. (although we just started being able to carry some of the aprilla line up here in Canada).

favorite bike...
gotta be the yamaha v-max... say what you will about those things, but ive never ridden anything more fun, although the triumph speed triple and kawa klr650 both come close.

lol, my friend told me to rev the vmax to about 6k and drop it....
im pretty sure i dislocated one, if not both shoulders :)

the speed triple is facking fun just for hooliganing around, and the klr is fun cause its a big ass dirtbike.... noisy, crappy handling, obnoxiously tall.... but so tossable and you can get away with almost anything.

and what was the name of the japanese dude that rode an R7 for yamaha, got suspended a couple years back for drug use i think.
haga... hoga... noriyuki haga i think... someone correct me on this one.

take a look at the yamaha warrior as well if you love the v-rod... it placed just behind the harley in the bike shootouts for "Inside Motorcycles"... plus it's at least $10,000 or more cheaper (with the harley running @ $30,000+). There's stage 1-4 kits that you can get for it, boosting the HP by more than 30 HP (with the stage 4 kit).

That's definitely one of the few machines I won't drive because the torque scares me so much, but I absolutely love the styling.

We saw one at the shop the other day (it was due for it's schedualled maintenance), and it had half pipes on it made by cobra ( I think it was cobra anyways... I could be wrong though). Yeah, so, anyways, we started it up and it was so obnoxiously loud that it shook the ground and nearly made us deaf. But the amount of raw power that thing had was insane!!!

I also saw this article last year on the v-rod. it was called the f-rod. :hitit:
Fred Kodlin Designs (http://www.kodlin.com/main.htm)

just go into this site, click on "bikes", and click on f-rod. This has got to be one of the neatest custom bikes that I have seen... although it is worth around $150,000 US (ouch!)

My fave's:
- Ducati 750SS from 1976
- late fifties/early sixties BSA Goldstar DBD 500
- early fifties Vincents (Black Shadows or Lightnings, both are great)
- 1982 Kawasaki Eddie Lawson Replica
- Yamaha FZR400R, any year.
- any Velocette Thruxton or Venom 500cc single
- late sixties/early seventies Ducati 350 Desmo engine's anything. (Preferrably a Mk1 or Mk3)
- Harley Davidson FLH Police Special with an evolution engine (better built than a civvies model)
- Any thirties vintage Rudge. They were all cool.
- Gilera Sanremo
- Any Crocker ever made. Probably the ultimate in two wheeled craftsmanship.
- Brough Superior SS (the bike Lawrence of Arabia was killed on; probably the most valuable bike on the planet)
- Any Indian Chief 74 inch. (gotta love the fenders and the sound)

Ah fuck, better stop...

M10, the real tragedy was that Mike Britten died just months before the V1000 was to be put into production. His wife inherited everything after his fatal heart attack at age 49, and she lacked the business sense and ecumen to continue with production plans. Apparently, much was in Mike Britten's head, and died with him.

If only...

I think your mistaking an NSR 250 for an NSR 500, you see unless they got them in small cubes (they are returned from the racing teams that leased them for ~$1 million USD and crushed at the end of the season), or they actually rode and won the 500cc world championship and still have them as gifts...

The M10 is a BMW engine used for a very wide range of things from 100hp street car to 1000+hp F1 car(sort of at least)

Actually, it was John Britten.

You are correct!
It was John Britten. It has been a few years since I have even thought of Brittens or that tragic event.

Maybe my substance and fumes addled brain got John Britten and Mike Hailwood mixed up. I have been drinking from too many aluminum cans.

Great to see the pictures. I am going to save them to "My Pictures".

Don't want to sound like an ass but you couldnt buy a NSR 500 front rim bare for $6k, let alone the $50K for the front forks or God only knows how much for the hand made titanium exhaust.

I did find this for sale though a 91 YZR 500 YZR 500 for sale (http://www.carclassic.com/bikes/html/pages/DH22.htm) (which were available to licensed road racers to buy) for $55K euros...I will own one of these in my life time mark my word, and I will ride the fucker :whipped:

i agree with m10-power, no way you could get an nsr500 for 6g's but if its possible im definetly willing to put the cash down right now for one...thats why i was so shocked when you said 6g's.

I've ridden a variety of 250cc sport bikes/race bikes. I rode an Aprilia RS250 out on old banff coach road, in its element but in town it was painful. The RGV 250 was the same sort of thing (they have the same engine basically). The honda RS250 race bike was the most fun, except the start...

Get some pictures, those NSR 250's are hot, I would like to get ahold of one and stuff a yamaha or honda 4 stroke 450cc dirtbike engine in for street use.

As for being the only ones in Canada I think you would be surprised at whats here even in Calgary.

Too bad everyone needs a 1000cc bike  those 400cc 4 stroke sportbikes are awesome, I still have my FZR 400.

Did you know VTEC started on their production sportbikes CBR400F in the mid eighties had the first generation called REV
Even the Suzuki GSXR-400 had variable valve timing.

OOh Yeah, more pictures for me to save.

My FZR400 was also one of the more enjoyable rides I have ever had, and I so profoundly regret getting drunk and crashing it. IN STRAIGHT ROAD OPEN ACCELERATION AND THROUGHOUT THE TWISTIES IN eAST lANGLEY, IT IS EASILY A MATCH FOR MY BROTHER0IN-LAW;S OOPS..Sorry, caps button

er Anyhoo, the FZR400 out accelerated my bro-in-law;s Duc.748 (just barely) and stayed ahead of himntil I hit 200 kmh, at which tome the Duc still had a bit more left, and he passed me pushing his bike to its top speed of, he says, 220 kmh.

The thing I love about small bikes is that you can really wring them out. I am still "respectful" (read: "afraid") of my modified old 888, as it is a true Superbike by any definition, and I do not have the skill after 31 years and a million miles of riding, to truly exploit that bike's potential.
Not so; small bikes (unless I am drunk) !
I would get on the FZR400 and ride it at The Max., giggling in my helmet all afternoon. The little bastard came back for more. The bike proved to be bulletproof. Too bad it was not Sloppy Drunk-proof, and spit me off, breaking a rib, collarbone and scapula. (which I deserved for riding drunk) and ruined a vary nice Shoei RF and my favourite Bellstaff jacket.
At 45 years of age (at that time) I should have known better.
Youth does not have a monopoly on stupidity.
