I tried to google this but couldn't find anything. Does anyone have a list of cars that are made in north America? I know a friend of mine imported an Acura MDX or RDX and didn't have to pay duty because it was made in North America. I'm just interested in import cars not domestic.

thats a good link but it doesnt show what particular cars are made in north america. I want to buy an import car from the states and looking for cars that I can not pay duty on. I'm leaning towards an rsx or 350z..

Subaru Legacy's are made in Indiana... and from what I've heard do not require duties when importing from the US

You either have to just google specific models or run the free carfax check on their site with a vin and it shows the final assembly point.

A usual tell tale sign if they are made in North America is if they have a single digit in front of the VIN, a Japanese production vehicle has a J

Toyota for example :

Japan-JTEBU11, JT2MA71
N/A-2T1,5TB,5TE and so on.

If you go onto wikipedia and search the vehicle sometimes on the side bar it is listed where the vehicle is made.

North American made vehicles are indicated by a 1, 2, 4 or 5 as the first digit of the VIN.

If the body panels have uneven gaps/slightly off fitment, they were assembled in North America (regardless of make)! :D
