Ok, I was just poking around the website for the show, and is anyone else seriously frightened by some of the new gladiators, Hellga in particular? She looks like she should be wearing a horn helmet, carrying a spear and ferrying the souls of slain vikings to Valhalla or something lol

Haha we watched this last night, I felt like I was 10 again lol. I totally love the underdogs, and I was happy to see the firefighter win as well as the little asian dude. That wannabe gladiator bugged me, it was hilarious to watch him cry at the end! I was sad the marine chick lost though, I think she would have had it if she hadn't knocked herself out though. Good perserverance even though she was bleeding all over the place!

Huh? She hurt her knee during a take down and then it gave out on her completely as she was running back to attempt to keep playing. I felt bad for her, she certainly had the right motivation to be there.

I felt bad for that girl that hurt her knee though and too bad that Marine chick didn't make it. If only she hadn't banged her head. That old guy was seriously annoying though. "14 years! 14 years! 14 years!" I don't think he's thought of anything else but American Gladiator for the last 14 years!

The courses and the events seem a lot smaller this time around.

The Powerball course looks smaller than before, but it looks to be offset by bigger scoring containers. Plus, they're actually allowing people to toss the ball in.

The course for Assault looks a lot smaller too. And apparently, when the contender hits the target above the Gladiator, the Gladiator gets vaulted into the water. That sounds kinda cool.

I always loved the Pyramid. Such a violent event, looks like it's really going to be one of the more action-filled events.

The Eliminator looks insane! I can't believe they added some of that stuff. The water and fire were an interesting addition. Plus they added the rope to the treadmill. I didn't really like it at first, but the more I thought about it, the more I realized that by that point, most people would be WAAY too gassed to make it on their own.

One thing I wonder about the the Eliminator though is if they're required to wear the elbow and knee pads. Both episodes last night had all 4 contenders wearing them, but I would hate having to wear those after the swim.

Didn't like the remake -- Bill Conti's theme is gone, and the new Gladiators look like a bunch of misfits. I seem to recall all the gladiators were far more clean cut in the 1989-1996 version -- no visible tattoos or bizzare behaviour (outside of the usual egos / taunting). Argh, the black lady losing in the first episode was kinda painful -- looks like the "three tries on the tredmill then walk up the side" rule is gone. Didn't want to see the big mouthed Filipina lady win (I think she's Filipino, not 100% sure).

I kinda like Lalia Ali (the female host), but I think the attraction only exists because she's the daughter of The Greatest :thumbsup:.

I was talking about this last night to a friend. The NFL had some of their players on there during the first running 15 years ago, and one of the running backs just destroyed the gladiators in that game where you put the balls in the little bins. Even if they had 3 guys trying to catch him he scored at will, it would be interesting to see Maurice Jones-Drew, LT, Adrian Petersen (Vikings), Adrian Wilson, Eric Steinbach on there there.
