Insurance and Registration.

How long do I have to finish getting my insurance swapped
over from my old car to my new one? I was told 12-14 days
for registration, and 72hrs for insurance.

Anyone want to tell me if this is right?

^^^ you have 14 days to transfer insurance, provided you know you have the same coverage on your new car as you had on your old car. Eg. If you had plpd before and no collision, you have plpd now.

14 days total for registration too, but i would call your insurance tomorrow. Most cops DONT know that you have 14 days to change insurance, so they may give you a ticket.

these rules are set in stone by the government, insurance companys have to follow them

It's better to just be safe and transfer it over right away. Why risk it and go through all the hassle of getting tickets cleared and possibly getting your car towed?
