Impressions , silent rage gettin dissed but how many of u actually help the car scene by entering your cars in shows.

Ya ya , speed is cool but how many times do you know if the car u see on the road is actually fast. I bet you that more people will turn to look at a car with 18 inch wheels and a full body kit than a car with a intercooler.

Now u post a pic of a car and u get dissed cuz ur on 18inch wheels or like vsmsir 19s . Oh sorry they aint 15s n black rotas but i thought people mod their car on the outside to get noticed.

Soon the definition of a nice car we'll be a stock car.

Anyway, people are always going to have opinions. And being a car forum, everything is subjective. Don't take too much of it to heart, you can't impress everyone. There will always be a show and performance crowd.

all the times that vsmsir posts about his wheels or about his acre being all show somebody is like u shouldnt waste ur $$ on usless 19's when u coulda put that towards a turbo! but if u like practlically how much $$ would u be willin to put towards performance when if all u want is speed then u might as well buy a BMW M3 or a Ferarri! then all ull have is speed! but for the show sceeane havein an sir, integra or accord we mod them for looks and if the budget allows then some speed! but IMO true fast cars are not our everyday imports!

as for ppl dissin impression and silent rage along with other companies people need to realize that both shops have some of the nicest show cars in calgary with some having a good amount of go, like loren's turbo crx or even just an amazing show car and in my perosnal opinion the best show car in calgary being marlons civic! lets not forget nicks turbo prelude which also has amazing show status but notbody really flames him for his 19's all because he has go!

When you buy a car, performance AND looks is a factor. Right? So why diss the ppl out there that are more into the looks that the speed? Personally, I'm in it to learn about cars, to make them quicker and run better and to get to know other enthusiasts. I don't want to turn any heads except those of other enthusiasts like me. Customizing the exterior of a car is expensive and can reduce safety, performance etc. Customizing the exterior should certainly be a priority, but it shouldn't cost more than the car itself, reduce safety or driveablilty in anyway, and should be done for the sole purpose of personalizing your ride, not done to give other people something to look at.

If all you're after with customizing your car is to get noticed, then you're not a car enthusiast, a tuner, a hotrodder, whatever, you're using a car and your money so you can get some looks on the street. Reminds me of the guy on that hyundai commercial "I love my new Tiburon. Because I like to get noticed." :rofl:

maybe this person (i have no clue who you are talkin about and/or if these comments were against you directly....) spent all of their own money on purchasing the car with no assistance from anybody....thus having no extra money to spend on mods (ie..still saving up $$ to buy mods). I've made alot of friends over at SilentRage and have learned they are truly a great grop of individuals, they dont deserve to be insulted. They run a business, not a charity, and they provide a service to people who need it.

See, the problem is that most of the people hating on the car's and the tuner shops are people who have very little done to their car. The people That spent time and lot's of hard earned money on their car's are usually less likely to go hating all the "riced" out car's.

I don't hate rice, but calling things ricey is just a new slang for cars that fall under that catagory.

For the record I quote myself at the last beyond meet, as silentrage was a topic brought up in discussion and some people bashed them, I said "Silent rage may be ricey, but there is no other place that I have seen that can do decals so well that they even make rice look good". (Honestly I really like the white type R, that decal is really inventive IMO)

..my thoughts on the car scene and RICE? It is getting bigger. It is no longer for the select few. I think people use RICE to define their insecurities about themselves and other parties. It's been in my experience here on beyond that there really are those 2 mentioned groups of people, the racers and the show'rs. Many of you know which side of the fence I am on, however I have never slammed someone's ride based on the fact it has a giant trubo. Yet posting a pic of my car and we had about 3 pages of hate mail. The thing i dislike about this site is the fact that "some" of the speed tuner's like to openly critisize the show'r's yet i don't see much of the opposite. Maybe because racing has more to to about how many pounds of boost you run in your ego. Show people know that when they enter their car at a show they are going to get judged, it's a difficult thing hearing people cut down your car, but you prepare your self for it. Many of the admin's here on beyond enter their car's and race them, therefore they get my highest praise, sitting on that magic fence has to be the hardest position of all.

I can only wonder how many times some of these admins want to respond to a stupid thread or comment, but know by doing so could jepordize that neutral zone. Some of the users on beyond should extend that same general courtesy. The ol' rule of thumb, "if you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all" could apply to SOME of you. Criticism is always acceptable, but when you call someones car "a freakin clown car", that is only there to cut that person down....you know who you are!!!!

I have to agree with alot of the above post's that there is alot more show haters than go haters.
We, as shop owners/employee's only build what our customers want, I am sorry if everyone does not like the cars that we and others around the city do but as far as i am concerned it is the show cars that drive the industry.
You ALL have to admit that if you walked into SCN on saturday and there was NO show cars and all race cars you would be a little disapointed with the show. You might not like driving a show car but looking at one every once and a while isn't so bad.
I wil give props to anyone who wants to cutomize there cars, if you only want to lower it and get some wheels cool, or if you want to go for speed like Allan or Nick, that's great as well,Full show like Nicole or Marlon sweet!
It does not matter what you do to your car as long as you enjoy doing it.

My car is sho & go and it is a impressions car. It's no biggy some ppl just have the over 10 k to put in there motor, but trust me if i didn;t have the money for that turbo i would of never put it in. I would of been jsut sho. Some ppl just have extra money to spend on that shyt others who jsut do sho wish they had go also. I know for a fact, just like marlon's civic he used to tell me all the time he wished he had more money to put a bigger motor in, but after he calculated everything he was like fukk it.. to exspensive. My crx has been my project car for the past 4-5 yrs. you guys probably remember when it was painted purplish blue, no go what so ever. It takes time to get to go, but once you get there make sure you have to money to backup a BLOWN~ in realife example. i blew my clutch and my flywheel at the track the first time i took it with the turbo!~ i haven;t seen the car for like 3 weeks and on top of the towing from the track to speedtech. I had to buy a new ACT clutch and a ACT flywheel. Grand total = 1300+. Great after driving the car for 1 week then to the track i have lost the car again for another 3 weeks and had to spend more money. I dunno GO is exspensive. Everyone should go get a stang. lol. IMO this may be a pointless thread, but all well.

Just like i couldnt care less about the 9 second domestic muscle cars that look like rusted buckets of shit, as well as the amazing looking cars that run 19 second 1/4s. It takes a mix of both.

I see less and less tastefully mod'ed cars on the road lately, and I've come to the conclusion that most who put stupidly huge/fugly spoilers, absolutely ugly body kits and completely mindless designs on the sides of their car want people to think only one thing: Look at me and wonder how much money I've spent/wasted on this thing!

Most amature trickers do the dumbest things (of which I won't mention as I have recently misplaced my fire-retardent suit). It's not too often that I see a tastefully done ride meander down the street, it's getting to the point where I think stock is beautiful and most 'show' is not.

I have, of course, seen many an amazingly tricked out ride and thought "Wow, now buddy put a good deal if thought into constructing that", as opposed to "What hole did THAT thing drive out of"

I think movies like FnF/2F2F have only hurt the import market... I haven't seen anything good come from it (No Skylines, no Lan-Evo's etc. parading around the streets) Instead I've only seen mufflers you could stick your head into, ridiculous twerks and stupidly loud cars. So now, cops are crackin' down on perfectly harmless tuners because of all the dumbasses who suddenly think they're tricking gods.

I'd kinda disagree with you man...i myself have built my neon from scratch...at first it was a balance of show and go...i'd do a little for looks, i'd add a little for go. After a while the faster i got the car going the less i cared about go. Now i'm at the point where go is all i care about and even driveability and functionality are falling lower and lower on the priority list. I dont do it at all for attention, i do it as a hobby and because i just love working on cars. I do it because i wanna see if i can take something from nothing and turn it into something. I've spent so many hours working on that car and so much money and still little fags diss it coz "hey, it's still a neon and it must be a POS"...So? Do i care? No! Will i see those people at the track? NO! Since my car is built for that what reason do i have to want to impress anyone...at the track the car can speak for itself, and since it's not anything amazingly fast yet, it wont impress anyone anyways...I have no problem with the "show" cars and i respect the people that actually put a lot of work into them as much as i respect any stupid fast car. However IMO people that do the show do that to be flashy and to turn heads which is no different than doing a 60foot burnout off the line at the stoplight. It'd be great if we could all have show and go but if we did we'd all be driving exotics!

I have to agree... it all depends how it's done up... a rusted out civic with a park bench wing or the unpainted big mouth bumper makes me think "why didnt he get a new paintjob first, or at least paint the bumper?" After TFATF and its sequel I too prefer the stock look of cars, done up conservatively and tastefully - not to say cars like the lexus above arent nice, because it was done very well...

If you don't like getting bashed don't be too extreme\overdone.

Fast or not a subtle look will always be more appreciated.

Also some people just have bad taste period.

I have to agree with alot of the above post's that there is alot more show haters than go haters.
We, as shop owners/employee's only build what our customers want, I am sorry if everyone does not like the cars that we and others around the city do but as far as i am concerned it is the show cars that drive the industry.
You ALL have to admit that if you walked into SCN on saturday and there was NO show cars and all race cars you would be a little disapointed with the show. You might not like driving a show car but looking at one every once and a while isn't so bad.
I wil give props to anyone who wants to cutomize there cars, if you only want to lower it and get some wheels cool, or if you want to go for speed like Allan or Nick, that's great as well,Full show like Nicole or Marlon sweet!
It does not matter what you do to your car as long as you enjoy doing it.

If you're in this so called sport or hobby more like it, to impress people then there are always going to be people that don't like your car because it doesn't have this or that. That's so true! Us "ricers" don't say anything negative about track cars/fast cars that don't have any show. So why do all the ppl on this forum diss all the show cars that don't have go? When you buy a car, performance AND looks is a factor. Right? So why diss the ppl out there that are more into the looks that the speed? Respect to cars like the STi and EVO 8, but would you still want that car if it was fugly? probably not. Why? cause looks matter. Us guys should know, cause we're all into all the hotties, but don't really look twice at the girl who's got a "great personality".

Everyone has their own opinion of what they like. Some like show, some like go.. and if you don't like something about a car, like you think its "too rice" they just keep it to yourself, because nobody cares what you think.
People like Marlon have obviously put a large amount of money into their car to make it look good, and make it the way THEY want it, because after all. It is THEIR car, and not yours.

And I personally, have decided to go for show, and then go with my car. And hopefully in the end have a car which fills both ends of the spectrum. But in my case, it will actually be cheaper to go show, and not go... and on a restricted $7/hr budget, I figure it is the better way to go.

Hn. Well then, what should the term be for someone who modifies the engines of cars non-proffesionaly if not 'tuner'. Perhaps mechanic then? Then in a few months... someone will pop up and start ANOTHER thread and be all like "Oh, I hate it when they call themselves 'mechanics' " :banghead:

Once you've added/modified/whatever ANYTHING in the engine for the better, you have 'tuned' the engine (like tuning a piano). And in the English language, one who tunes is a 'tuner'. Bleh.

rice is when cars look faster than they are. things like cuttings springs to me is rice. if you want to lower your car, do it properly, get a proper suspension setup that will improve the cars han dling greatly.
dont paint your calipers red to make them look like brembos, buy some good brakes like AP or Brembo. if they are stock, leave them looking as such
bodykits are fine, but only as long as the engine is also modified equally. fart cans are all good so long as they are on appropriate cars. a super drager on a 500bhp gt-r is fine, but not on a civic.
whatever the car looks like it can do, it should be able to.
