On Tuesday, 2008 January 15th at approximately 2045 hours,
Calgary Police attened at a Salon located in the 11200 Block
of Valley Ridge Drive North West on an armed robbery. The
victim was robbed at knifepoint and then taken against her
will into a remote treed area nearby where she was sexually
assaulted by the offender. The victim was able to convince
the offender to let her go free.
A citizen arrived at the salon and observed the offender
fleeing. This citizen was able to keep an eye on the
offender until police arrived and arrested him. Charged in
this offense is Marcel Parent, 30 years of age.
Parent has been charged with one count of Possession of
Weapon for Dangerous Purpose, Sexual Assault with a Weapon,
Robbery, and Unlawful Confinement.
Investigation was conducted by District #2 GIU.
