View Full Version : How does the 3S-GTE take to bolt-on mods?

I know that the 3S-GTE doesn稚 take to mods as well as the 4G63 but what gains can I expect from adding a Fujtsu Legalis R exhaust, Berk Downpipe, KO intercooler kit (Greddy clone with better pipes), & ARC intake box? I will have a boost controller also but I知 just wondering how much bang I知 going to get from my bucks before increasing boost. I知 not expecting more than 10-20 whp total but am curious if any of these mods will increase engine response which IMO is on the laggy side in stock form.

Nothing noticeable on my Legalis-R & Apexi intake, stock boost.

Bang on the Buck before Boost = Negligible

Legalis R came with a flex b-pipe, which deleted the cat there.
Still got the stock downpipe though.

dp+ exhuast w/o cats you will really notice cuts spool time in half seriously intercooler you wont experience heat soak after a hard run and it wont feels so gay on a really hot day intake doesnt do much at all on any FI car helps a tiny bit but not much at all
dont bother waiting on turnin up the boost make your own fcd and crank it to 13psi itll feel soooo much better

and the only real difrence between the 4g63 and 3sgte is the the 4g63 has a better flowing head from factory nad our pesky thined out water pump area on the block

the gen2 3sgte is actually a decent flowing head.. Im really not sure how it compares to that of the 4g... what sucks is our intake manifolds.. the g2 manifold is balls.

Of course. I didn't realize you got a gen 3 engine already. How many km's and how's the condition of the bearings?

well the manifold is really retritive then on the intake ports you can open them up probly another 1/8" top and bottom the echuast side is sooooo retrictive you can remove 7/16" all around the port esscielly making your port 1" larger

but the 4g does have a better flowing head

dp and exhaust will make a difference in spool time but won't change your overall hp #s much. changes the hp and torque curves on a dyno.

I ran just a ko dp for a couple runs down the highway and the spool was crazy fast and crazy loud.

You will notice a lot with a boost controller.

I ran a completely stock setup with a apexi intake and 15 psi, and ran 14.1.

With my 20b, downpipe and exhaust I think I could of done a 13.0 with proper traction.

3rd gen kills it when you throw on bolt ons.

I know the internals are beefier but it must be the fuel system that makes the big difference. Is compression the same?

lower compression, way better intake manifold, more aggressive cams, 540cc injectors vs 440's, larger fuel rail. pretty much bolt on a big turbo and go.

Wow. Are you getting yours installed or are you doing it yourself?

Naw.. I dont have an engine hoist or anything so Im having Rob aka Spoolin do the install, its pretty straight forward, the only concern I have is weither or not the dp on my turbo kit will clear.
