i still hafta wetsand and polish my tail lights cuz the plastic is getting old...

but heres what the center panel looks like cf'ed

IIRC you could buy the part in full cf for quite cheap as well so a GB might not go over very well. Still looks great none the less.

i'll see what i can get my hands on as far as those vents are concerned...

As far as the link, i guess i got him on price and on the look of the weave, since he uses the plain weave and 2x2 is nicer :nut: are you sure he's not just laminating stock pieces and calling it full replacements? i guess i could make a replacement panel, but why pay more, at least for the local guys. I dont know, i'm open to all suggestions

yeah, it's no problem at all if you're out of province, just add shipping. if you want to send your stock piece to me to laminated it we can do that, or i can make you an overlay that you stick over the stock piece, so you dont have to ship it to me. It should look exactly the same, just use a quality spray adhesive, like 3M 90, which is made specifically for laminations (kitchen counter tops, bath counter tops, etc)

i'm bringing in some red kevlar/carbon hybrid fabric for a local customer, as well as some dark green kelvar/carbon hybrid, if you think that might look ok with your black... if you or someone else is interested in that, say someone with a red car, i can order more and bring it in at the same time. But i need to know ASAP. Price wise it'll be only $20 more!

I've come into some various MR2 parts lately and was going to make a little FS thread. I have a 94+ black tail center piece and I think it's brand new. If anyone wants it to get CF'd make me a decent offer. I may even have some of those triangular vents. I'll have to look tonight.

Yes. All CF parts you buy are usually fiberglass moulds with CF overlay and resin.

Yeah, i figured there's no point in making a full replacement piece when you all already have the plastic one and there is no weight to be saved. Why pay more for something you dont need.

For the out of towners, if it's too complicated to send your stock piece, i can make you carbon fiber overlays for the same price, and you simply attach them with 3M 90 laminating spray adhesive, and they'll be there for good. THat stuff is used to glue the countertop laminates in houses, so it's very strong. This gives you a very tight flush fit over the stock piece, so it ends up looking exactly as if i laminated it.

Hope that clears things out a little bit, but if i just confused you guys more let me know :nut:

exactly... they copy the shape in fiberglass, and the laminate the top layer in cf... so imo, especially for the locals, it's a bit of a waste of time and cash ;)
