Best Place for Backpacks?

I just want to know what's a good place to buy a nice looking backpack that can hold my laptop and some books?

What's the brand of backpack that starts with Dak??? Not sure what's the last letters.

i got a dakine bag looks pimp but i paid alot for it and the laptop pocket only lasted like one semester so could probably get a better bag than Dakine...

Most of the "cooler" looking ones ie Dakine, Burton look better but aren't as durable as a true padded laptop backpacck.

But Spareparts, west49, source if your looking for the Dakine ones...

i'm looking for a backpack that has the side laptop pocket. Where you just zip up and slide the laptop in on the side. ANyone here know what i'm talking about? Also how is the durability of the dakine backpacks? How much did it cost ?

I have a side loading laptop backpack. Fits my laptop, 2-3 textbooks, and lunch and other stuff easily.

Made by Lowepro, it has like a 10 year or lifetime warrenty iirc (have to check exactly). Got if from FS for $79.

I am using an OGIO bag for school right now... lots of skateboard/snowboard shops carry them, as well as places like best buy, fs, etc. It's a really good quality bag, and holds a decent amount.

I also have a burton backpack for my camera gear, and it has a laptop pocket too, but it's not big enough for my laptop.

Make sure you take your laptop with you when picking out a bag, and some books or something too, load it up, make sure it all fits well and is comfortable when loaded up.

I would also recommend nixon backpacks. the padding on the some of the bags for laptop are just amazing.
but they are more on the pricey side, so about $70+ for a backpack.

Dakine wouldn't exactly be the best kind of bag for a laptop because some of them don't have a padded pocket, they're just pockets and not exactly durable.

Burton and Ogio also have padding for the laptop holders, however some of the burton bags are also just a pocket.

where do you buy an Ogio bag? I was looking at Dakine but Ogio looks pretty good too. I tried the dealer locator on Ogio's website but it only has the united states listed.

Edit - Ca anyone who has a 17'' Macbook Pro reccomend a bag that will fit a 17'' macbook pro?

:werd: X 2. Not the most stylish bags, but mine has survived 5 years of heavy daily use & heavy loads of textbooks and the stitching is all perfectly intact and the material of the bag is still in great shape, with barely any signs of wear. It looks like it could go another 15 - 20 years.

I've got a courier style bag with a flap, but it has a zipper on the top that lets you get in the bag (and easily slide your laptop out of its compartment) without opening up the flap.

Awesome value for money, I just wish it was better looking!

Wholesale outdoor sports, maybe not for you brand whores, but I've had a few bags from there that have lasted over a year now and several road trips on the bike.

Crumpler bags/backpacks are pretty cool too! The Camera Store carries them. For my laptop, I have a Booq Vyper case for my Macbook. That then goes into my Crumpler bag, or my Blurr Backpack (from MEC).

I bought mine from The Source in Kensington. I think it was $89 before tax and is exactly as you described. It is probably the best back pack I have ever owned. :thumbsup:
