I would think that since you can get an R6 that is ~5 years old for 7k you shouldn't have to drop 4k to get a 20 year old bike with WAY less technology.......

I try looking for bikes around 1k and it's IMPOSSIBLE

Yeah past few yrs used bikes have really come up.. Theres something about the old bikes that people still want. (I'd much rather an old cruiser from the 80's then a new one) And generally if bikes come up that are only 1k, they sell between friends and people who know each other.. I used to buy lots of sub 1k bikes back in high school. Fix them up and sell them for double+.

I think the demand for older bikes is fairly high due to them being used as "starter" bikes for a lot of people. I know that was the case with me. I started riding six years ago on a 1984 Honda. I paid $2500, rode it for two years and sold it for $2500.

My first bike was an '85 Honda Rebel. I think I paid around $1500. And that's was 1997 money.

Unless it's bagged or a really small engine, you're not gonna find a decent bike for $1000. You might find a non-sport bike for $1000 range.

My buddy got a half faring '85 FZ750 for $3000. I personally love older bikes. I got me an '89 VFR400 for $6000, but that's another story...
