It's just around the corner; Family Day Long weekend and I was thinking of heading down to the US to pick up some new tires for my car. Now you might be wondering why I'd go to the US to pick up tires; besides the fact that I can get them half the price (almost) I can also visit the US, which I've never had the chance to do before.
That being said, I have a specific model in mind, (Details here (http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=Michelin&tireModel=Pilot+Exalto+A%2FS) ) but I'm not quite sure how I can arrange a pickup/delivery, considering the tires they have in stock are in Nevada. Idealy, I would like to be able to drive to Helena or Spokane and pick up the tires from a local shop, and have them installed and balanced there. I tried looking for some shops online but i'm not able to find any local ones?! Would any of you guys be able to point me in the right direction regarding that matter? I'm sure someone has to have some sort of experince in this domain. Any other ideas/suggestion in regards to the trip/tires are welcome :)
Thanks once again guys.

as for tires, if you are going to Spokane, get your tires from discount tire:
http://dt.know-where.com/DiscountTire//region/US/ID.html

they have two stores in Spokane. They are just as cheap if not even cheaper than tire rack. you can have them mounted and installed there, just schedule for your appointment online.

Thanks for the links. I've actually looked over all the montana shopping related topics on here, before I posted. Do you know, are there any tire shops in Helena? (I would like to pick them up there, obviously because it is closer; if not Spokane will work just fine)

the closest location is in Spokane according to the map as far as discount tires goes. I used the one in Seattle and was really impressed by their prices and service. Scheduled the appointment online, they called me to confirm time and availability of my tires. Drop off the car and it was done in 30 mins.

I've used both Discount Tire and Perfection Tire in the states (spokane and sandpoint) and have had great service at both.

what kind of duty do you pay on these? If you install and drive back?

if you are not bringing back your old tires, nothing. How would they know. If not, then i guess add 6.1% to duty and 5% on tax.

On a sidenote Palmiros, Those Exaltos are fantastic tires, My cousin just installed them on his car, and said they were worlds ahead of his MV4 Energy's.
