If it's the bike I think you are talking about it's a 2001 TL1000R

It sounds sooooooo good and had TONS of upragdes. The bike is painted to match the owners car, both where at SCN on Saturday.

Bikes with V-Twins will have 2 pipes. If you go with a Devil exhaust, you can get a single can with 2 pipes.

I read that it has a lot to do with tuning and power pulses.

V-twins generally have 2 pipes. There are exceptions (SV650).

With 4 bangers, I think it depends on the manufacturer. Most racy sport bikes have 1 exhaust. This is because 1 exhaust can is lighter than 2. Less racy (think ZX-6 not ZX-6R) have 2 pipes. Hayabusa, 1100XX blackbird.

I think that some people with Dual go Single. I have never seen anyone go dual from a single. Come to think of it, I don't think that anyone makes a dual aftermarket exhaust for a bike that has a single.

Although I did see something for R1s to make them look like 2 stroke bikes.

yea generally v-twins have dual becuase it fits the layout of the engine.

its about function not performance and looks (most of the time)

From right to left we have

The TL sounds so good and is crazy powerful.

Tl's are amazing bikes. I have a yoshi can on my bike and it is really loud but i can't hear it when i am riding with tl's. I ride with a a guy with a TLS and one with a TLR, one has dual yoshi cans and the other has micron bolt-on duals. They shake the ground.

Dual exhaust is not good for bikes...TOO HEAVY! Switch to single and save the weight. I will soon be removing my dual system and putting on a single Akropovic.

I will admit that dual exhaust looks pretty pimp, but in the world of speed and acceleration..... Gotta single it out.
