debate. I'm getting a ps3 soon but the hd dvd players are getting quite affordable. Which is better and which will win out the battle that seems to be going on at the moment and what is more widely available at movie stores??

well considering Warner bros just jumped ship from HD-DVD and became exclusive to Bluray + Porn just decided to open up to bluray as well, i'd say Bluray.

HD-DVD actually dropped in sales quite a bit after the Warner Bros Jump

I guess you're not really reading up on the news, eh?

BD won. HDDVD is on a fire sale. HDDVD won't go away because MS is still putting some support behind it. Do expect movies to come out on HDDVD after 2008 or 2009. But expect HDDVD become storage media of choice for computers, replacing DVD-R.

Dude I work in the electronic industry, and its based off personal opinion really....

Blu-Ray and HDDVD are almost the same though some could say Blu-Ray has noticable difference in picture quality and I have not tested that yet but I would imagine so. Blu-Ray holds more information on the disc than HDDVD I believe. Blu-Ray can hold up to 50gb of info which means longer loading times but in the end it's worth it.

Blu-Ray has definitely won the battle against HDDVD but that's up to you. And as far as sounds quality goes, the sound on Blu-Ray is amazing I've truely tested this theory. On my father's sound system and it seems like Blu-Ray is winning.

However again, HDDVD is cheaper, and probably same quality. This I don't know as I don't support Microsoft nor any of their products and those I do are probably counterfiet products.

As far as Blu-ray goes... some of the updates... on the Blu-Ray machines like LG, is a pain in the butt! because it doesn't update through the ethernet cable on some, and has to brought into a authorized service center to be upgraded manually with a CD which you and I cannot obtain.

Anyways... up to you.

Goodluck! I love my PS3

Size has nothing to do with load time.

BR's quality is NOT better than HDDVD, comparing the same movies, they are the same. Older titles, HDDVD was actually better.

Only for a week. It's actually back to normal now.

Late February to mid-March are the weeks to watch to see if HD-DVD is truly "dead". The 5 free BD and HD-DVD offer for new hardware (which counts towards sales) ends Jan 31st. We'll see if BD numbers are "bloated" because every PS3 owner gets those free BD movies.
