Take the VIN # and bring it to any registry. Get them to check if theres a lien on it, and if the title is clear.

for accidents you have to pay for a report unless someone here has an account. Best place to go to is www.carproof.com but you need a credit card.

Alberta registry is the best place as if something is branded salvage or write off they know first.

Go to the registry. I got a salvage that CARFAX said was clean but the registrie said oh no. I havn't tried CARPROOF but I'm told that it is better for Canadian cars. But I would go to the registrie cause they're the ones that will stop you from putting it on the road.

Carproof is much much better than carfax for canadian cars, it is more expensive, but worth it for sure. However like others said, if all you want to know is if the title is clean, then the registries can look it up.

+1 for Carproof....they listed 20k worth of damage on a car when Carfax listed it as clean.
