if it is old enough to pass the 15 year thing then you have to have daytime running lights etc.. to pass an o.o.p. and if it has a lap belt then maybe i would just ask your insurance company by the way what the hell is that thing and what is it worth???

If it's old enough to be classified as a classic/vintage car, I believe that you are more or less exempt from a lot of regs. Also DRL's only apply to vehicles manufactured after Dec. 31, 1989.

:werd: Pretty sure no seatbelts is of no consequence if the car did not originally come equiped with them.

You can look at the Alberta Traffic Safety Act Equipment Regulations online:

http://www.qp.gov.ab.ca/documents/Regs/2002_322.cfm?frm_isbn=0779717090

You need to comply with this to be street legal in Alberta. You have to pass an out-of-province inspection which has a completely different (and sometimes contradictory) set of equipment requirements before you can register it here. The manual they use for inspection isn't printed online, you have to visit a mechanic who has a copy of it to see it.

Be wary of Alberta govt officials who are willing to misinform you in a way to discourage you from importing an older foreign vehicle.
