I`m planning to buy a vehicle and i just want to clarify if this is all i have to do to avoid getting any tickets or doing anything illegal.

-Take plate of sold vehicle(My dads) and bring it with me. (Previous car is no longer registered to that plate due to being sold)
- Bring letter of authorization to registry, and transfer his plate to my name.
- Request temporary or permanent insurance for the vehicle in question.(In my name)
- Either have them fax me proof of insurance, or pick up papers.
- Pay for car, and make a bill of sale (Under my name) and put the plates on.

I would then have 14 days to register the vehicle correct? or would i run into a problem being that hes transfered his plates over to me?
If i cant transfer the plates, would it still be fine being that the insurance would be under my name, title is my name, plate is my dads?

Any help is appreciated.

You have to have the insurance in place before you can register your car if I remember correctly.
Otherwise you seen to have all the steps there.

Actually, would i be missing anything if i did this instead? BTW the car is for me.

- Request insurance for the car making my dad the primary driver, and me being secondary.
- Pick up proof of Insurance
- Pay for car and make bill of sale with both mine and my dads name.
- Attach the old plates from previous car(Which i was using at that time as a 2nd driver)
- Drive around with Bill of sale for within the 14 days.
- Go to registry and register the car under my dads name.
