Looks like the Canon engineers have at long last nailed down the source of the problem, as even the Blue Dot units will be affected by the update. Whether it's a hardware issue that requires a trip to the Canon shop or just a firmware update remains to be seen.

(I know a couple Beyonders shoot with the 1DIII, hopefully they can get a head-start on sending theirs in if this turns out to be a hardware fix.)
