Just looking to purchase a locked Iphone off ebay, but the prices have gone up since newyears. You used to be able to get a 8 Gig Iphone for $399ish. Now there a $100 more.

Any one know where to get them from online that will ship? LOL.

its pretty straight forward, not hard to unlock at all. Watch a few you tube videos do some reading before you do it :D

If you want to buy a new one, you are going to get version 1.1.3. That's why the prices of the 1.1.2's have gone up.
You are not going to unlock that one easily unless you use one of those sim solutions.

It's not easy at ALL to unlock a new iPhone. I don't think you have read enough.

Look up my thread on how to unlock a 1.1.2, and you will see what I had to go through. If you get a 1.1.3, you won't be going through anything for a long time (except maybe denial and envy)

The jailbreak was just released for the 1.1.3, so I believe it will work. Don't quote me on this though.

Nice. About 2-3 weeks ago I got week 51 and 52 but they were both 1.1.2 so it worked out.

1.1.3 can be jailbroken and unlocked with Stealth/Turbo/Next Sim as well.

1.1.3 has JUST been jailbroken but there are no real 3rd party apps for it yet...

$100 more is not bad but expect to pay close to $100 for unlocking and tax etc so $600

:werd: , I had an iPod before I bought my iPhone (and I'm sure most people did as well.) I put all of the songs I REALLY like on my iPhone (about 40-50 of them) so that if I ever really really need to listen to music, I'll listen to those, and I just carry my iPod around in my backback or jacket pocket if I think I need music. I still have >6.5 GB empty on my phone. 16GB is too much for me.
I just find the phone uncomfortable to use as an iPod. I like to change songs while my iPod is in my pocket, and I can actually push the buttons that way...

I'm the opposite, I bought the iPhone cause I hated the bulk of a blackberry 8700r +iPod Video going everywhere with me. It's for the lose.


If I had the choice when I bought mine 2 weeks ago, $100 more for twice the mem, I probably woulda stuck with the 8gb cause all my songs are loaded and with extra apps and some photos and my demo reel I still have 2gb left....

FYI, contrary to some posts on this thread 1.1.3OTB cannot be used on *sim yet. Currently there is no way for 1.1.3OTB to be used as a phone I don't think. (other than with AT&T smartass)

1.1.3 that was is not OTB can, however.

You can restore the phone to the original software and your phone would still be under warranty. No clue what applecare is so I can't answer that.

i heard that if you buy it in the states, you have to buy it on an AT&T plan. you cant just buy it on its own. is that true?

i've heard mixed sayings on that, i've known people that have say gone to hawaii and just picked one up at an apple store, while a friend of mine went to vegas and tried to get one and the apple rep denied him.


it may all just be who you get at the store.

If you buy from Applestore in the states you DO NOT HAVE TO ACTIVATE a plan through AT&T. You can also buy one from AT&T stores and not have to activate as well.

I went to florida (2 weeks ago)and I asked if I can buy two, they told me I can buy as many as I want. :D

Apple store policy is that you can't buy more than 5 phones per person, and you must pay with a credit card, no cash sales. This is according to the sign in the Las Vegas Apple store yesterday when i was there.

Also when in the applestore... they would not take cash for any iphone sales, they said it was company policy on the iphone.




As for having to activate with At&t only... I guess I'll soon find out, I unlocked my iphone last night and I'm goin out to try and get it activated today.
