Any board members have experience hiring a lawyer for a business start up?
What do you in particular look for in a lawyer?
Do you have particular questions you ask?
For the last business I started, I had a long relationship with a lawyer in that field - so there was no problem at that time.
For this next venture, my current lawyer does not practice at all in this field - and I will need to source one myself. I have spoken with one recommended lawyer from my existing lawyer, but did not feel comfortable speaking with him regarding my business matters.
Another question for you - how would you ensure that your idea/plan/concept is fully protected when speaking with a lawyer that you have yet to sign on with?
I am looking for a lawyer to deal with creating legal forms and contracts for my business, which will 'tell all' in regards to my business plans - and I highly doubt that I can have many a lawyers sign NDA's while 'interviewing' with them.
