Can i get out of this ticket?

I just received a ticket for not displaying the "N" sign on the back of my car. It was not on as it was just stolen that same day. The ticket issued had a few errors such as my name was entered wrong, my middle name and last name were entered only not my first. The second error was that the cop did not ask for me to sign the ticket, he pretty much just handed it to me and left.

im not sure if they do this anymore, but last time i got a ticket and my name was entered wrong, the ticket was quashed as soon as i talked to the crown..

something you might wanna look into if you dont feel like paying the ticket...

i saw some big ass semi with a N on the back of it driving like a freaking mad man on icy & flooding roads last time i drove to vancouver.. it was insane, he was going at least 150 and i was hydroplaning

ya if they spelled your name wrong they cant give you the ticket go to the crown and tell them... plus if your suppose to sign it saying whatever and he didnt get you to there is another way out.

A misspelled name doesn't mean an automatic dismissal. All the crown does is ask the officer if the driver of the car is present in the courtroom. Cop says yes and your identity is confirmed.

Ok im going to clear somethings up since that we are in a Alberta forum and most of you aren't familar with the Graduated Licensing Program in British Columbia. A *N* sign means novice, its the stage after a learners license. This is like the 2nd stage in alberta, and it doesn't mean Noob either lol. It has less strictions then a leaners but they're still some resticitions. The sign must be posted when a novice driver is operating the motor vehicle. The sign basically tells other drives to be more cautious because the *N* driver is more than likely to get into an accident then someone with a class 5 lol.

just pay it...like if someone stole the whole plate off the car they would ticket you for not having it on the car.

you are taught to do a "walk around" of the car to make sure it is fit to drive/legal, safe. in the walk around you should note that this N is gone. fell off, stolen whatever, this makes it Illegal for you to drive. you knew it was missing and drove. that is breaking the law.

Go to www.revscene.net and under police forum, post your question and the officers there will be able to answer your question. Skidmark (the head mod on the police forum) doesn't frequent this site as often as revscene.net cause it's a vancouver based forum.

not saying I buy the guys story (or care really), but if you were at work, say downtown, and it got stolen off your car in the parking lot and you discovered it afterwards when you went to the car to go home, how many of you guys WOULDN'T drive home anyway?
