They are running the car to 23 psi.

But once boost, fuel and timing were adjusted, we saw a repeatable 285-290whp and 290-295lbft of torque. For comparison, Tuned Evo IXs end up making 270-275whp and 280-290lbft of torque on the same dyno. This is on straight 91oct.

Two problems. Stock ECU doesn't seem to retard timing after knock is detected. Fuel cut also produces knock.

notice the difference between hp and whp

one is mostly for image and the other is for real use

kinda like comparing your designer purses to real wallets

Impressive but it remains to be seen how the ecu, electronics and tranny will do with somewhere closer to 400whp. 290whp is not that much power for that car..

Good numbers, but bad knocking.

The 4G63 took to mods very well. Looks like the new engine has even more potential. It may not be able to make near 1000 hp like the 4G63 due to the aluminum block but sounds like 400 hp should be easily attainable for most.

To put things in perspective with these numbers, here's how the new STI motor is responding to mods:

Slightly higher numbers without the weird knocking issues. Not a really fair comparison though, as there's more displacement and people have been playing EJ25s for a few years now.
