So I was at the shell close to Deerfoot on 32nd today, and saw a car I had no clue what it was. I stopped to take a closer look. In fact, there were two of them. Both were clad with pieces designed to throw people off, but on further inspection I realized this is the new Porsche sedan! I've seen sketches and renderings online but never one in person. I suspect few have.

I drove off, not remembering I had a camera in my newer phone. So I returned, and starting taking shots. As soon as I did, one guy hopped in one of the cars and drove away, so I started shooting the other. The driver realized what I was doing, and stood in front of it to block the view - telling me to go away. While I understand the car is out in public and I had full rights to take pictures as I pleased, I respected his wishes. But not before I snapped off a couple of shots. While these are pretty lame shots, it still gives you an idea of what the car will look like.

Nice find.

Sorry if these links are not clickable... I'm not a guru at putting images up on beyond quite yet...

In the reply window, you click the IMG tag above where you type, it then opens a smaller window, where you enter the link the pic (or the BIMG if its a huge pic that needs to be resized)..

Cool! I never thought they would be in Calgary. I don't really like the look right now, but I imagine the production should look much better.

Thanks for the tip Supa - I see what you're talking about. It will never again be a mystery. :)

Keep in mind guys that there were several parts on this car designed just to throw people off. For example: The rear window doesn't actually curve down at the back. It flows in a C-shape in the rear. (Somewhat viewable on the bigger pic.) The front vent on the side was brutally attached, so I suspect it will look different. The rear lights are actually larger than they appear, as they covered over the outside third.

There is no picture of the front, but it appeared to have a light format extremely similar to the current 911. (Kind of a Porsche trademark at this point.)

It's pretty obvious that this car will also have a large active aero spoiler in the back. It was up on one, and down on the other.

There are a bunch of pics of 4 of them up in High Level from a couple of months ago on the web. I saw them on Antler hill near Innisfail back in November also. There is another thread on here with the other pics.

While I'm not a big fan of the design, I never thought they would be able to sell a SUV either.

The second picture really shows you how long it is. In my opinion, it really looks like a car that was attached to something solid on both front and back, and simply "stretched to fit". I would expect the production vehicle to look much better than this prototype, but I don't think they will be able to tinker with it so much that I'll ever enjoy the look.

yeah i actually went to the dealership and asked them whats up with them in the city, they stated that they are just doing some road tests and trying to create a buzz in calgary about them.

appearently alot of owners have been asking for a sedan for a long time.

who would have thought it....

still a pimp car...

Porsche really needs to figure out how to design a car that looks at least a little different from everything else they make lol 911 styling REALLY not working for the sedan.

Not all that appealing to me. Looks like a sedan trying to be a hatchback.

Yea, not a fan of it. They will sell a ton of them though.

Bowser

Of course they will, it's still a porsche after all.

lol, it sad to think that a porsche will be used for that kind of stuff. It puts the heritage to shame.

I want to see it all shined up and without cladding. Should be interesting.

I never thought they'd actually build something uglier than the Cayenne. Slapping a 911 front end on an Intrepid doesn't make for a nice-looking car.

Ugly. I love the look of the 911, dont get me wrong. But cant Porsche make something not look like a 911? People will still be interested if their sedan doesnt look like the 911.

The Aston Martin Rapaide will be better IMO.

One hell of a ride, with Porsche backing it you know it is going to be in the M5 territory. I like it and cant wait to more on the street.

RS6 Avant, M5 Wagon, Porsche Panamera... heck why not, it's a Porsche! Plus it's always a good time when applies the 'S' version.

Looks-wise, this tester is a bit rough but should be interesting to see a clean shiney production one.

Just a heads up, saw a green Panamera downtown today, followed very quickly by a beautiful white GT3.

Saw five Panameras cruising out highway 1 towards Banff today, they were with a group of about 20 other porsches and being followed by 2 Cayannes (sp?) with tires on their roofs. Unfortunatly I could only grab a pic of the SUV's after the cars had already passed.

These were as far as I could tell, uncovered. No camo on them. When I took the pictures, the guy in the car gave me the thumbs up.
