He could've gotten a job in Calgary & his company offered to ship it out. My cousin from Newfoundland got an engineering job with Chevron in Calgary and they shipped his crappy little corolla and all of his furniture across the country.

Hah, sentimental value.

I've seen a few cars from Hawaii here.

he probably just took the ferry across.

Right, there is a ferry in operation now. Another possibility is his vehicle broke down beyond repair while on vacation, I know lots of states will let you replace your vehicle and wear your old plates until you return and such.

Or at least that's how a lot of people in new york were buying late model TDI's ;)

why would i be saying that? im saying it would probably be cheaper if he had the truck there to sell it and buy another one here rather than bringing it with him :nut:

It's $1050 to ship a car from Hawaii to Vancouver :)

:werd: He probably didn't care about the cost since the company that hired him is paying for it :dunno:

^ Well, basically everything they have is shipped there. So it's not hard to score a container on a ship. We looked into shipping my dad's MX-5 there, and that was the price.

Here's one possibility:
That truck was probably less expensive brand new in Hawaii (as are most US vehicle prices), so to ship it over would be cheaper than buying a new one here.

^ I know a guy that lives in Hawaii. Its not all that great, he mentioned. There are some parts of it that are just rampant with racism, the crime is pretty intense in other places too apparently.

Dont get me wrong, I'd LOVE to live there myself, but like I say, its not a tropical paradise without fault that some people believe it to be. :dunno:
Its interesting that you can get a house in Maui for a fair bit cheaper then you can here in Calgary:banghead:

Yeah I've heard the same, we have friends of the family that have been going there a few times a year for about 20 years, they absolutely love it, but there is a great deal of poverty, drug use and crime.
