View Full Version : Are all Alpine harnesses the same?

I'm trying to swap out my Alpine CDA-7995 for a CDA-9826, and although the pins appear to be the same, and plug is the same size, it doesn't really go in properly. The only reason I even bought this 9826 was because I wouldn't have to rewire everything, and that it would just plug into the old harness. Does anyone know if the harnesses are different part numbers, or does it just need some more wiggling to get it in properly?

from my experience with the 7892 and 9857 units,
i just unplugged the old one and popped in the new one.

It's not going to hurt it to wiggle some more, but chances are you'll need to source a new harness. Check and make sure you don't have it upside down ;)

well I have both harnesses, so that's not really the issue. I just didn't want to rewire everything again, hence the reason for even getting this deck, If it doesn't fit I guess I'll just throw the 7995 back in the car and get rid of the 9826.

try to compare the wire colours coming off both to make sure they're identical, there probably isn't a difference between the two tho, if all else fails, it won't kill you to spend a good 20mins rewiring it.

Yes they will work.

have you tried taking the 9826 new harness and jamming it into the 7995?? I know you did the other way around first....

yeah i did it both ways, and its difficult to go into both says. But I'll make sure pins aren't bent or anything.
