Toyota announces 2009 Corolla and Matrix pricing

http://www.canadiandriver.com/news_2008/02/18/080218-3.htm

Toronto, Ontario - Toyota Canada has announced pricing on the all-new 2009 Corolla and Matrix, as well as on the 2009 Camry and Camry Hybrid, and on the redesigned 2008 Sequoia, all of which launched this month. The all-new, tenth-generation Corolla will have a starting price of $14,565.

The announcement comes on the heels of Toyota's adjustments to the MSRP of sixteen of its Toyota and Lexus nameplates.

The 2009 Corolla's base price of $14,565 is the lowest introductory price offered on the model since the 1997 model year; the Matrix will start at $15,705, which is $1,495 lower than a comparable base-model 2008 Matrix .

The 2009 Camry LE starts at $23,400, while the Camry Hybrid starts at $30,600; both prices are lower than model-year 2008 versions . The Camry LE V6 receives new standard stability and traction control, while the SE V6 receives standard power sunroof and anti-theft system. New standard equipment on the Camry Hybrid includes a power sunroof, dual illuminated vanity mirrors and rear reading lamps.

The all-new 2008 Toyota Sequoia is priced at $44,675, the lowest starting price in Canada since 2001 . The new model features a more powerful 5.7-litre engine that delivers 381 horsepower, increased towing capacity and improved fuel efficiency.

That's a damn good price for a Corolla.

Corolla should see even greater sale numbers with that price.

Well, I think they'll have to do something soon.

A lot of dealers are doing discounts right now. If Toyota is stealing their lunch, I'm sure they'll respond.

Right now, I'm looking into a G35x since they have $4500 off AND 1.9% financing.

do you know how long this lowered price will last?

Mfg rate are never tied to prime. It's tied to level of stock and the eagerness to clear them.

I know that but typically manufacturers re evaluate their rates at the begining or every month. If it's going to go down it usually goes down the first day of the month.

I didnt have to time test it, they where really busy on saturday so I would have had to wait about 1hr for a test drive appointment. No big deal, I will just go back in a few days and hopefully get a good deal with their new pricing. Have you seen the M? that car is really nice:bigpimp:

That's incorrect. It's $4500 off cash purchase OR 1.9% financing OR 4% financing AND $1500 off... Gotta read the fine prints!

Good news on the pricing. I am hoping gas heads up to $1.50+ next summer so I can pick up a very slightly used one of these to replace my Expedition at a firesale price.

To be brutally honest, i dont much mind the look of the new XRS corolla... if it had 200 hp and 165 tq, NA 2.4L engine, it'd be a competitor for the GLI jetta. Im not saying its the nicest car on the market, but its decent.

All those people complaining that about CDN/US pricing disparity, this is for you:

US 2009 Corolla starting price $15250
US 2009 Matrix starting price $16190

CDN 2009 Corolla starting price $14565
CDN 2009 Matrix starting price $15705

You would lose money if you tried to import one of these cars from the US.

It's cheaper in Canada by $700. It's actually more expensive state side.

Now we just need the difference to come down more with cars people actually care about ;)

I agree completely. I think it'll just take time.

At least the market works though - consumers buy cars where they're cheaper. All the people who imported from the US put pressure on the manufacturers to lower prices and now all the consumers win.

This sucks ass for me. I bought my 2005 Sequoia in the states a couple of months back - specifically for resale. Looks like the 36,000 or so I wanted to get for it might be a tad out of reach now...
