Looking for a VGA cable for 360 -- prefer actual MSoft branded one.

I got a MS component video cable that came with my system, and that handles HD very well... Would that work for you, or are you specifically looking for a VGA for a reason?

he's prolly looking for the VGA because its the only thing us people with the old school xbox360 sans HDMI can use to get 1080p

Really!? I thought all 360 can do 1080p over components? I guess I can test it out later... but does anyone here have a quick answer to this?

upscaling for DVDs, that is... the component cables will do 1080 for everything except DVD movies

I've used the VGA cable with my LCD TV.. makes a big difference.

just get one of the cheap ones, it's all the same crap, i have one of the cheap ones and my system actually looks better over VGA than hdmi.

And they can be had for like $15 BNIB, just buy one from walmart, if it doesn't look as good as you expect, return it.

the component video will do 1080i not 1080p that goes for games, dvd's etc. in order to get 1080p you must have the vga or HDMI cable

now that's strange....

according to the November Update

http://www.xbox.com/en-US/community/news/2006/1030-novemberupdate-completelist.htm
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/906303/en-us

there is an update for:
HD 1080p video mode support over VGA and component cables.

Note Only set the switch to HDTV if the TV supports high-definition resolution, such as 480p, 720p, 1080i, or 1080p. 1080p became supported after the November 2006 Xbox Live update.

I run my Xbox360 Elite @ 1080i (TV doesn't support 1080P or have HDMI), and yet my games (The Simpsons Movie Game, Burnout Paradise) I play are at 1080i

Yes you can do 1080P over component but only games I think. Problem is most 1080P tv's will not accept a 1080P signal over component because of DRM limitations, not because component can't do 1080P. Samsung TV's appear to usually accept 1080P over component, otherwise your SOL. Both VGA and HDMI can do the same resolutions for everything.
