Importing BMW from the states

looking to import a bmw from the states but i've heard that since november 07 i'll be needing a recall letter from bmw ? is there a site i can go to see what is required to import this car . its a 04 m3 vert btw .. looking to put a deposit on the car in the next couple days but i want to make sure i have everything i need before i go down to the states. i've never done this before so i have no idea what im doing
