Bought in July 07 from Richmond Bmw
Canadian Car with Certified Series Warranty Until Aug 2009.
The car is mint condition, Fully loaded including Navigation

Very rare color and options combo. Comes with 19 factory bmw rims and 17 inch winter rims even thought i decided not to drive it in winter.
Car just had inspection 1 done on it less then 2500 km ago.

When buying a car like this i would go with one that has warranty.

When I was shopping for mine, I found about 60 that was cheaper than mine too. There's a lot of shitboxes out there unfortunately.

I mean if you only care about price, you can get 03's for $27k usd in the states, which would work out to around $37k cdn once everything is done. It won't be the best looking M3, but it's an M3.

If you don't want to import, you can always buy a Quebec car for that price too. There's a whole whack of Quebec M3 SMG coupes selling for $30k on canada trader right now.

Of course a car proof and carfax will explain why they're so cheap lol. You get what you pay for.

honestly you can get certified bmw M3 for much cheaper than anyone selling theirs on beyond
i.e 04 bmw individual package 20KM SMG 19inch wheels $40K obo
i.e 02 BMW m3 smg 19inch wheels carbon black 40KM $32K obo
i.e 04 BMW individual package carbon black on red, 19inch wheels, navi, smg, everyoption 40KM $45K
all CDM

list goes on, its not that the cheap ones are crap, although a lot of them are, its just that a lot of people still think their M3's are worth a lot more than in reality.

send me the links for the one u are talkin about boxer.
Please explain what individual package you are talkin about.
Yeah prices have come down quite a bit due to the us dollar coming down but keep in mind that half these cars are from the states and try sellin them.
Pleaes compare apples to apples. You cant compare a us and canadian m3 if you ask me.
i did pay a little more and the reason for this was try findin a phoneix yellow with smg, navi and 19 inch wheels. Pretty dam impossible if you ask me. If you have a rare combo expect to pay more. If you look in the trader they are all either silver in color or black. Please correct me if im wrong.

YOU get what you pay for.

Well, the M3's I am talking about are in BC or Ontario, but are Canadian and MINT, just check out the Autotrader and look at all the crazy deals lol. Iced_out, your M3 is very nice, and aside from LSB the pheonix yellow is also amazing. I just wouldnt be able to pay 48K for a car that I could get for 40K with a different color.
Individual package is pretty much paying for exclusivity in the options you want in your car. i.e you will see bimmers with specially upholstered seats, custom color, even specific engine details you want etc. You will also see badges on the car that say "BMW Individual", M3's with these badges, although dont make quite a big difference were sold for way over 100K new. Just on a side note, I was planning on buying one, but since the new M3 is coming out, I will just wait since the E46 will depreciate even more.

I know what the individual package is. The cars you say are individual are not. Just because the car has red seats dosent mean it has the indivdual package. Please go the bmw.ca website and look a there inventory. Then tell me these car on here a decently priced. Like everyone is this forum has said you get what you pay for.

80% of them are carbon black. That's a fair price for a '05 with 70k (which is a little high for the year).

Grey on grey's a sick color. I was looking for that too but couldn't find one.

Actually, I've been researching them for about 7 months now... I've checked autotrader.ca, autotrader.com, e46fanatics.com, m3forum.com along with a couple other random sites/private parties...

Everyone can say all they want that you get what you pay for... and I agree. However, there's no need to 50k for an m3 with 70k klms. Even if it is an 05.

70k klms = 46k miles... you should be able to bring up am m3 from the states with that mileage in the low 40's... registered. EDIT: A clean M3

In all honesty, have you researched a used E46 M3 lately?

403viet

isnt importing a car from the states a bitch now? esp BMW and Mercedes ?

rage2
03-04-2008, 04:05 PM
For the M3's, it depends if you're lucky. I've heard stories both ways.

At a minimum, you're paying $350 for a "pre-approval letter" and $500 for a "recall letter".

If you're lucky, you're forced to pay $500 to turn on DRL's, and that's it.

If you're not lucky, you're forced to pay about $5000 (parts + labour) for a new cluster as well as hvac controls. This would also mean that you'll have a note in your carproof/carfax records stating that the cluster has been changed and mileage cannot be guaranteed.

I'm guessing pretty soon, everyone will be unlucky. Right now, some dealers are still flipping on DRL's via software for e46's since the rules were just handed down and not everyone's implemented it yet.

Trying to call someone at BMW dealerships to verify what needs to be done is completely useless too. They've been known to tell you one thing, but once the car's here, force you to change clusters. It's completely random at this time.

BTW - this is out of ontario dealerships, I'm not sure how Calgary dealerships are handling the situation right now.

As for Mercedes, they've been using this system for years. There is a reason for it... US cars are MPH only, and CDN cars are KM/H only. Also, Mercedes changes equipment mid-year for many of their cars, which is why you need to pre-authorize a VIN. Some cars were unimportable because of mid year changes. Finally, the US and CDN cars have different bumpers, so it has to change as well. Average cost to import a MB is around $10k.

Yes, here is a PM exchange I had with 403Viet:

http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.jsp?car_id=233970327&dealer_id=76491&car_year=2003&model=M3&num_records=&systime=&make2=&sfy=false&start_year=2003&keywordsfyc=&keywordsrep=&engine=&certified=&body_code=3&fuel=&search_type=used&distance=25&marketZipError=false&search_lang=en&first_record=51&make=BMW&keywords_display=&color=&page_location=findacar::ispsearchform&min_price=&body_style=CONVERT&body_style=COUPE&drive=&default_sort=priceDESC&max_mileage=&style_flag=2&sort_type=priceDESC&address=90210&advanced=&end_year=2006&pager.offset=50&doors=&transmission=&max_price=&cardist=8

My response on Feb 23, so the exchange is a little different:

1. $36,000 + 7.5% California tax = $38,700
2. Exchange. Sitting at $0.96 right now. = $40,312
3. GST. = $42,328
4. Duty. = $44910
5. BMW clearance letter. +$350 = $45260
6. BMW inspection +500 = $45,760
7. New cluster for DRL programming (required on ALL cars now) + ~1500 + ~1500 labour = $48,760
8. OOP + $100 = $48,800.
9. Inspection at US BMW dealer to make sure the car is sound. + $200. = $49,000

10. Plane ticket to fly down, accomodations and fuel to drive back. + 700. = $49,700
11. $400 for a wind deflector.

That is not to mention the full month I spent trying to find the car and the carfax and autochecks I did on about 150 BMWs. I have them all and can email them all to you. You would not believe how many accident and written off cars there are in the US.

$50K isn't so bad now, give all the work I did eh? haha

So, $36K is a low ball. $45K is probably what I would settle for. I also have some OEM 19s in decent shape that I can throw in with car instead of the M6 wheels.

Number 7 in the list is the only thing I am unsure about. It could be $1500 or it could be $3000. I looked into for the E92, but not for the E46.

No hard feelings as most people don't really know the true cost of importing.

Take out the exchange and the California tax and you are looking at $45K. That is for a 2003.

Ya so I just called them out of curiousity to get info on the car. It has the same options that benyl has (other than those nasty ass seats).

I asked for a history report, and he was reluctant to give it to me. I asked for a VIN so I can pull it myself and he refused to, says they don't give out VINs for security reasons. Then I asked again for the report emailed to me, and he told me he'll send it to me tomorrow. He also mentioned that sometimes carfax reports lists accidents that are minor on it and isn't really an accident. So I'm pretty sure there's an accident listed on carfax .

I'll call again and grab the report off him tomorrow.

I've actually bought a car from Venus.

I saw a car on the website and went to Toronto to check it out for a test drive.

Everything checked out from VIN, inspections, etc etc, but I could never really shake the feeling of being conned until I took the car to Shenni's.

So far, so good... but oh man, it feels like buying electronics from the back of some guy's van.

HUGE Red Flag.

Any dealer that is on the up and up will give you this.

I wouldn't want any car that had any sort of accident reported, big or small. What some people consider minor is incredible.

Look at the front of that car. It is covered in rock chips!

I'm sure Tunerworks sell and install 'em locally.

i have only heard of one story that i read on m3forums about a guy that had his car start on fire while he was eating in a restraurant. Luckily there was a fire truck passing through and they put out the fire quickly. This was a huge thread and a lot of people were freaking out that they had installed them, and i had already bought some so i was pretty much thinking the same thing. These were the umnitza predetor chroniums.

The insurance company declared that umnitza were not at fault after investigating it and further investigation determined that the fire started as a result of a poor connection of the D2S adapter to the D2S bulb, not from the angel eyes.

When dealing with anything electrical, there is always a small risk . Especially high voltage lighting systems. If you weather proof (weather sealing tubing or tape & use individual wire connections ) and properly secure all of your wires, rather then the provided connection plugs, you should be fine.

I have heard that there is no risk of anything like this happening with the new release of the Umnitza Orions.

I have my set that i still have to install, you can bet that i will be taking every precaution to make sure that these aren't going to catch my car on fire, lol.

There are thousands apon thousands of cars that have these angel eyes and 1 or 2 incidences occuring that were problaby a result of a bad install shouldn't keep you from throwing them on. Thats just my opinion. It is a great looking mod.

just my two centavos
