Hey guys,

I am looking at doing a swap pretty soon and I currently don't own an engine hoist.

I need one that will handle about a ton and has to be foldable since space in the garage is limited when both of my cars are parked in it.

Price is also very important. So I need something that will be cheap and reliable.

What would you guys recommend and let me know if you have a used one that still works great that you'd like to sell.

thx

Etienne

Have you guys had any issues with the cylinder or overall quality?

I purchased a hoist from a friend for 50 bucks, worked perfect until the pump gave out, bought one from princess auto and havent had an issue with it since :)

I borrowed one from somebody last summer. It was a 2 ton from Canadian Tire. He said he paid around $200 bucks for it. It stowed away quite nicely and all too.

I like Princess Auto too, just because they're pretty good about returns down the road.

A ton is a fair bit. 2200 pounds... are you doing an engine swap on a WWII B52?:dunno:

Good to hear the princess auto ones are holding up good I only said a ton because they are usually rated at 2 tons or something like that.

You can rent one from Rogers Rent-all on edmonton trail and 32ave behind the totem... i dunno their rates...but princess auto would have been the best choice...too bad u missed the sale...they go on sale every month anyway so just keep ur eyes open i picked one up last year and have used it like 5 times and after a year of sitting in the shed (-40) im surprised the hydralic still works:clap:

I have one from House of Tools, It was 169 on sale, they come with a double acting ram (pumps when you pull up and push down on the handle) I lifted a 2000lb lathe with the boom all the way out and it's still kickin'.

You can use nylon teathers and those clips that look like they're for moutain climbing. The teathers and clips come in different weight ratings. I got most of mine from Crappy Tire.

princess auto is the best. good quality tools and supplies usually better then canadian tire.

canadian tire sucks and if ur master craft or anything goes wrong htey hassel u for returns. princess auto no questions asked cause they stick behind products with their name .
