I'm pretty sure Ranchman's has some kind of deal like this, don't know the specifics though.

Ranchman's has the 72oz challenge. $150 if you lose. Have to finish sides too... salad, garlic bread, potato, beans.

Hmm.. I'd be in. I also got a friend who would do exceptionally well in this too.

Make this sometime after may 3rd and before may 17th and I'm there!!!

EDIT: I can do 2, 16oz prime rib cuts no problem. What's the time limit on this?

1 hour time limit. I'm thinking of putting some money up on it. If you win, free steak + cash. If you lose, you end up paying $150 for that steak that you couldn't finish.

what if you don't eat potatoes how do they force you to eat a potato, what about being allergic, i could do it, without the potato, i could do salad and bread

kerry
02-26-2008, 12:35 PM
I dunno, I think they'd make you eat more of the salad and bread.

Good idea though, I'll try a scam ;)

Forbes in the NW had a challenge too. was a 92oz hamburger with a 1 hour time limit.

few of us went and tried it, had to give them 24 hours notice. of the 4 of us that tried, i was the only one who managed to finish.

pretty much as soon as i finished tho, i ran to the bathroom and most if it came back up.

72oz would be 4.5 16oz steaks. I believe they give you 1 sitting, that they consider 2hr's or is it 1hr? Good luck and video tape your experience to share with us:D

I heard eating wet cabbage helps?? At least that's what that little asian guy who has all the eating records does. But I don't know what you're going to do at the gym to help? eat weights?

I've always wanted to try this, but seriously doubt I would get close to finishing.

It's only 1 hour.

And I'm going to hit the gym before eating dinner so when I get home I'm pretty fucking hungry, and completely empty.

I think it's do able with training hahahah.

I found this from a Texas restaurant that has the 72oz challenge.

"The smallest person to complete the task was a 100-pound (45-kg) girl of 17, according to manager Ruby Barrett."

Don't be put to shame that a girl can beat you

Here's a link for a live eating. Pretty funny that they have you sit on the stage for everyone to see with a huge clock beside you.

You may also want to get down as much as possible in the first half an hour... :)

back when we did it, it was like $85 for the burger, but that was like 4 or 5 years ago when that whole cattle thing when beef was hella cheap, but forbes isn't there anymore, it is now called original joes, don't know if they have something similar or not.

Yes, I think I might do some 20rep squat sets before this. If I puke in the gym then I'll be purged ready to destroy the cow.

gym+smoke before going.
I mightve been able to do this when I was in my eating prime, but I don't think I can anymore.

How are you gonna choose how ur steak is made?Getting it well-done, I would think would be tough and dry to get 72 oz down but going medium-rare...imagine all that redness and blood juicies oozing out of the steak

rage2
02-27-2008, 09:19 PM
If I were to do it, it'd be blue rare. It's the only way to eat a steak!

A friend of mine tried this at Ranchmans a couple years back. He didn't get it done in an hour but still managed to rifle back about 64oz of the steak.

At Ranchmans you have to finish the potato, beans, salad, and roll along with the steak within the hour. He ate all that and 64oz's in probably an hour and a half and then called it quits.
