Probably stress related, on his show, he was always angry and screaming.

One of the last true hot-rodders. He will be missed.

Sad stuff. He was one of the first famous rodders I ever met. When I was a kid I always wanted my 36 ford 5 window coupe to have some Boyd wheels on it.
Definitely a blow to the street rod hobby.

I hate Boyd's cars, and I hate the fact that they're refered to as "Hot Rods" even more. That said, he did a lot for the automotive community, and was a good ambassador for the hobby.
Also, if I ever find myself in possesion of a '35 3-window, I'll probably be able to get 5x what it's worth because someone watched too many episodes of "American Hot Rod"...
RIP Boyd.

I am positive Chip has alot more class than that.
Regardless of the competition, an icon has passed. I am pretty sure he will pay his respects.
RIP...
he was a hard motherfucker!!

I personally didn't like his style either (I am building my 36 as a traditional rod). However he has done a ton for the hobby/industry and that cannot be denied.
No need to dump on a dead guy just because you don't like billet valve covers and CNC wheels. To each his own.

Thats cool, I'm building my '38 Chevy half ton at my dads farm.
it was either the 38 or the 39 that I know of today (still in farmers field), but I liked the '38 the best (looks wise).
:bigpimp:
yeah Boyd was definately a big wig in the hot rod sector. Everything he touched was worth in the six figures. Some of his rods would fetch a VERY VERY pretty penny at the Barrett Jackson auction.
dont want to speak ill of the dead so.......
