I'm driving a 2002 Civic and had a Compustar installed pretty much the same time. Lately when I try to start the car via the remote, 75% of the time the car engine just cranks but won't start. It then tries 2 more times and to no avail. When I start the car manually, the car starts fine. I called the installer and they said it was "maybe" the transponder and it would cost me $35 to get it "maybe" fixed. Can someone tell me if they've heard of this scenario and what the problem/solution is? Thanks a million.

Have you ever double started your car? That might be a problem.

If it's really bothering you, i think for 35$ it might be worth it.

I might have double started it a few times within the last 6 years by accident. So the problem is the transponder if I've double started it a few times since I've had it?

The modules can become defective. It happens with any starter. Your best bet is to go and get it checked out and replaced if need be.
