I agree with this...but I wouldn't be able to give a fully fair answer unless put into his shoes...

I agree with everyone else in the thread.

tom_9109 got it right. My reaction was "about f'ing time" when I heard it. I also damn near drove off the road when I heard them say he was barred from caring for critically sick people. More proof that the "justice system" just completely doesn't get it.

wow...everyone, so far, is in agreement. And I feel the same. Geeze we have dangerous offenders, twice convicted drug dealling murderers doing less time than this guy.

Our justice system is a joke.

Good for him...hope he can enjoy the rest of his life in peace.

We're in agreement, but check out the poll at calgary.ctv.ca - when I voted (he should've been let out long ago), 62% were saying he should be jailed for the rest of his life, period.

That just goes to show that 62% of people couldn't put themselves in someone elses shoes for more than 5 seconds and are somehow morally superior asshats. Self righteous assholes.

Latimer never should have served time. MANY legitimate murderers have been in and back out again in that time.

^ Whole heartedly agreed. What he did was what he had to do. I have thought about this scenario many times, and the biggest question is, what if your disabled son or daughter lived past you? who would give him/her the love, and the help and nourishment they need?

Latimer IMO is somewhat of a heroe.

I like our justice system... if you end the suffering of your child that's seven years, but if some crackhead couple lures someone into a back alley and kills them they only get two.

Latimer should've served 0 days in prison.

Last I checked we lived in redneck central.

I always told my folks that if I ever become a vegetable, pull the fucking plug. There's no way I want to burden my family like that.

QFT.

Murderers have been in and back out again in the time Latimer's trial took, let alone the time he's been wrongfully imprisoned.

That said, these types of things are a testiment to the attitudes of a lot of Canadians as much as they are to our legal system. The legal system is a fucking joke because we don't demand better.

My thoughts precisely. What a joke of a "justice" system we have.

Poor guy, poor family...

Its wrong what he did, but it would be unbearable to see your child go through something like this.

Its nice to see he has the support of his family at least

It's LAUGHABLE, what our government considers justice.
