Seems like the new one has gained from fair reviews
Not bad figures out of their new 2.0L ultra low sulfur engine
140hp
230lbs torque

I'm thinking that a loaded Wagon TDI would function quite well in my garage as a daily driving functional lifestyle vehicle

I was quoted that base was 25,600 + freight/pdi
comfort line + 1400
Wagon + 1400
Add other functions

likely 33K...
but for 33K I think i'd take it over a Prius or Camry Hybrid

Nice torque figures, would bold over well for some light towing activities

ya for sure over a hybrid.
hybrids are just marketing tools and cash cows for manufacturers.

What area are you working in? I there yesterday afternoon for a private viewing of a few vehicles. I got to sit in and start the Jaguar XF which was cool but I was mainly there for a private view for Ford, Dodge, GM, and Nissan as I have fleet accounts with each of them.

I will be there again tomorrow afternoon/evening to wander with the common folk. lol

*edit* on topic, I wouldn't totally consider VW's new TDI. They have always been good motors. And I personally love the look of VW's. They don't look nearly as cookie-cutter as most cars out there and the interiors are definitely above average. Plus they are generally more fun to drive than fwd cars from most other manufacturers.
