Finding a person to do it for you will save you the hassle of this, Using bigger importing companies may charge you more, but you can find private smaller guys who import small amounts of cars and will charge you less.

I think IC and other importing sites have good rep these days and are pretty reliable in helping you bring over a car -- don't have personal experience though.

A sarcasm detector. That's a REAL useful invention.

For the OP, you're not going to get a break like a broker would if you're only shipping one car. Jumping all the hurdles - paperwork, logisitics, etc. isn't worth it considering JDM cars are already cheap to begin with.

Insurance is starting to catch on with JDM imports now. Claims cost more for cars where parts aren't readily available. I can see insurance going up on these imports.

hey i have connection, i have imported 1 car so far, but it is easier than you think.
first of all 94 is not until next year, this year is 93 which is supra mk 4 there are sz,gz, and rz i think thats all i have seen. im also interested in bringing supras in i have looked into it.
rz's are quite expensive low as i seen in japan was 7gs sitting in japan, and it was an auto. manual 6 spd cheapest on was 9 but it was hard to find. and now sold.
shipping is like 1g and insurence, maintenance(timing belt and ect) is depanding, japan domestic fee (depends on the value of the car), dock fee in vancouver, custom broker fee, transporting from van to cal 500 and oop was 100 and whatever your car requre to pass oop(maybe tires, daytime running lights, ect)
than your done ready for register and insurence!

im pretty sure he is refering to japanese domestic charges and taxs for exporting...
yeah for sure they are eating up mk4s like nothing at the good price levels, unless you wanna invest in like 15gs it would be like 19-20g by the time it lands in calgary...

Its called Initial D tax. It varies from car to car. Initial D tax is highest on a AE86 Corolla :(

get it from the US, go onto Supraforums and check out the market place.

Importing companies are charging $20,000+ when you get a 95 supra 6spd from the US for $25000.

i'd rather spend the extra $5000+ to get a USDM supra.

have you seen the mileage of TT supra's in the US which are $25K....even if it was 25K, its still better getting JDM because the km's are so much lower.

High mileage USDM Supra > Low mileage JDM Supra

An RHD car will never be worth as much as a LHD car when it comes to resale. You've effectively eliminated a huge majority of the buying market when you buy a car that's RHD.

USDM supras come with bigger turbos and bigger injectors.

the JDM turbos are crap ceramic

the condition of the cheaper USDM supra's for sale are supraforums is disgusting...as much as I hate the jdm fad, I would rather get that
