CITYBEAT - CITY OF CALGARY PRESS RELEASE

On March 2, 2008 at approximately 7:00AM, a 2002 Chevrolet
Cavalier being operated by a 24 year old male was traveling
southbound on Queensland Drive at a high rate of speed. As
the vehicle rounded the left curve approaching Queen Isabella
Close S.E. the driver lost lost control and side swiped a
2005 Ford F150 which was parked on the west side of the
roadway facing south. The man was the sole occupant.
The Cavalier continued to travel out of control crossing to
the east side of the roadway into a yard in the 200 block of
Queensland Drive S.E. striking a tree.
The driver was transported to hospital with life-threatening
injuries. The preliminary assessment is that speed and
alcohol are likely factors in this collision.
The Calgary Police Service Traffic Section continues to
investigate.
