So i just moved to alberta...edmonton of all the places...used to be in toronto..where camera shops are everywhere..
since ive upgraded, im giving my dad my old nikon D50 DSLR. and would like to give him a couple of lenses.
prefrence would be an 18-200mm (sigma or nikon) and a 50mm f1.8.
does anyone have these for sale? or point me to the right store/person where i can pick them up...(used) for a decent price...
and what would be a fair price to pay for them?
Cheers
Matt

I wouldn't bother trying to find a used 50mm 1.8, its only $130 new and you wont save much used. For the 18-200, you can try nikonians.com in the for sale section - theres always some 18-200's for sale. Alternatively keh.com deals with a lot of used lenses, but I doubt you will find one with a Canadian warranty on there if you care about that. For pricing, used 18-200's seem to go for around $550 USD, and are $650 USD new. Finding a used Canadian one might be a challenge.

welcome to edmonton. I think it's by far the best city in canada. I hope you enjoy the laid back relaxed way of life in edmonton.

The big local camera stores are as follows:
McBain Camera, they're all over the place. Their prices suck, but they'll price match any brick and mortar store in canada, so that includes thecamerastore.com and even henrys (though their prices aren't too great either). Their pro store is on 107ave and around 108 st, their other stores are smaller and consumer oriented.

Vistek is around 109st and about 106 ave? Very close to the main McBain store.

For old film and vintage stuff, go to Classic Camera Exchange on 118ave and 125 st.

Don's photo is around 156st and 87 ave.

Accent is spot on. I get most of my stuff pricematched at mcbain using thecamerastore's prices or have it shipped in from BH
