I think it's real, when you pick up a puppy by the neck like that it general paralyzes them in a sense... not to mention he didn't actually throw the puppy that hard, and it still went pretty far - so it musta had some weight behind it.. think of how hard you'd have to throw a light weight stuffed animal for it to go that far?

The argument is "the dog obviously had weight" , but also in dimension and proportion to where the marine's arm where he was lobbing it from, it was quite obviously a few feet over from its "take off" point.
