Did Mercedes add prestige to people buying Chryslers? Nope.

This is just a reason for some kid with a Polo to brag that it has the same cigarrette lighter as a Porsche.

Ever heard of the 300 and what that car did for Chrysler?

No one says, "Wow, the 300 is cool because at the time that was first produced Mercedes owned Chrysler!"

They say "Wow! That looks like a Bentley... oh wait, it's just a 300".

Missed the point. The 300, based on a MB platform as a result of the merger, is one of their most popular cars ever and Chrysler has improved their reputation as a luxury car maker.

Regardless, a merger is different from controlling ownership, so this is not a good example anyways.

It's too bad the crossfire didnt have more balls, it might have been more popular then

I dont see the differnce? VW and porsche are together anyway. I could be wrong about this but i thought they were already pretty involved with each other?

So if porsche does buy vw, does that mean they will also own, audi, lambo and bugatti like vw does?

^ I'm pretty sure that when Porsche takes over VW anything owned by VW becomes Porsche's.

PORSCHE PWNS ALL YUR VEE-DUBBL-JOOS.

PORSCHE: I CAN HAS VEE-DUBBL-JOOS!?

What soap-opera over there, I thought Porshce already owned VW.

Could be really good news, since porsche is one of the most reliable brand's out there... and VW... well they're somewhere in the middle.

Didn't know Porsche is worth almost $30B Euro.

Porsche > VW > Audi/Skoda/Seat/Lambo

Wow.

I bet Porsche is eyeing that V12 TDI engine for the Cayenne.

it's just a matter of corporate finances and shareholder control and to stimulate market worth...

will it make a difference when it comes to the assembly line

Things like this shift around all the time.. especially with technology stocks
Just a matter of allowing subsidiaries to grow or vice versa to protect their own interests through absorptions

i.e. EMC with their line of products, such as VM ware
