Just heard about this. Apparently he has pancreatic cancer, which has a pretty low survival rate, something like 20% make it through the first year and only 5% make it 5 years. Really sad to hear, he's done a lot of movies I grew up loving :(

Official Statement via his website, people.com, ect.

"Actor Patrick Swayze has been diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer and is currently undergoing treatment. Patrick's physician Dr. George Fisher states, 'Patrick has a very limited amount of disease and he appears to be responding well to treatment thus far. All of the reports stating the timeframe of his prognosis and his physical side effects are absolutely untrue. We are considerably more optimistic.' Patrick is continuing his normal schedule during this time, which includes working on upcoming projects. The outpouring of support and concern he has already received from the public is deeply appreciated by Patrick and his family."

Be nice until I tell you not to be nice.

He'll rip the cancer's throat out just like in Roadhouse.

Pancreatic cancer is a very frightening form of cancer. It is very aggressive and rarely caught early. Many diagnosed with it die within a year.

I know of a few people that have died from it over the past few years.

They told my father that if you can make it past the 5 year mark then you have a solid chance of survival...sadly pancreatic cancer is very aggressive and is extremely hard to keep out of the body.

I wish the best of luck to him!

yeah I feel really bad for his family, he met his wife when she was a dancing student with his mother Patsy at 15. I know that most people admire his acting but I studied to be a dancer and totally enjoy his dancing skills.

yeah pancreatic cancer is one of the worst for aggressiveness, my grandfather had it, he was healthy his whole life (jogged every morning till he was 70) and then the cancer had him within 6 months. I'm hopin swayze pulls through though, he is still relatively young and i presume in good shape.
