I was curious if anyone had any suggestions on how to fix the cover for my gas cap on my 01 civic.

When working properly, I can push a lever beside my seat to have the latch release the gas cap cover. For some reason it no longer works. I checked with CDN tire and they said it will cost somewhere in the neighbourhood of $200 to fix. i was curious if anyone had a farmer fix for this, I don't care if I can release the cap from my car seat, I'd be fine flipping it open manually.

Thanks guys.

it's a really common problem, http://www.fueldoorfix.com/ has the fix for $20.

My fuel door cable broke on my 98 civic. It was a pain in the ass to put a new one in.

If you want to rig it up, try to find both ends of the cable (apparently it breaks just after the lever) and MIG weld it together or clamp it together somehow.

Bah just install the cable on a nice warm afternoon. Youll have to take out a bunch of plastic panels and what not, but whatever..its a few hours, and i guarantee any monkey with a mastercraft tool kit can do it. Hopefully the new product is better than the oem piece of crap.
