He never mentioned anything about it being registered as a track car only in Canada.

That's dodgy as hell. I'm thinking it's a WRX with STi bits slapped on it. Also, JDM? ie - from Japan. With prodrive stickers on it?

I think the only real way to tell is to report it.

If it's legit, it stays. If it's not, it gets chopped and sent to Japan. If it stays alot of people can give up trying to chase all of these newer JDM's for being here.

I doubt he'll tell how he got it in, and the gov't won't give up loopholes.

Was going to say, one way to find out. Report it to ? and wait for the epic lulz as the car goes missing.

there is something up with that.

like ppl are saying you can import for non road use. but if hes selling to the general public that means it can be registered.

i bet there some shaddy 1993 paper work behind this car. I hope this car gets reported .. gives ppl who import legal cars a bad name

Of all the cars he could have imported; he chooses a 1997 STi... great

the registration process for newer than 15yr old imported vehicles is different than the 15 yr old ones and that process is a lengthy and pricy one that begins in Japan. The newer cars must be exempt prior to export or you'll be asking for trouble and your car will get crushed if not confiscated.

now if I let you in on what it took us years to figure out and accomplish, I wouldn't be such a smart business man.

I will say that this car is registered 100% legal using the JDM vin number, so no shady vin job done like 99% of the newer imported cars I see listed here or 100% of the imported cars listed from US..lol...other than that, I won't comment. registration info will be provided to serious buyers ONLY at our discretion.

back up top!!

i dont know what hes talking about butt.... :bullshit: ? or wouldn't we know of this secret legal trick already

As one poster said, any car can be legal, but only 15-year old and older can be registered. At Japan Car Exports we sent a 14-year old BMW and JDM Toyota to Canada without a problem.

It's very simple to identify how a car was imported, just ask to see the Form 1. The form will show the method that the car was imported with (ie. 15 year rule). It even lists the date of manufacture the importer disclosed to Customs, so if its an R33 that was allegedly manufactured in 1992 it will be very plain to see on the document.

u could ship it over in pieces and put it together here and then register it as a kit car, its only registered as a kit car but in fact it is the car itself.

I've heard of people falsifying their VINs... easy enough to do I figure, as there are so many junk'd cars just sitting in lots in Japan
