Got pulled over on deerfoot last night for speeding 131km/h. Got my ticket and it was checked off that it was an "estimate" and "radared". I thought you could not be radared when in a moving car and cop was in a moving car too (cop came up from behind).

Is this fightable?

you can get it reduced but you most likely wont win the fight

oh and you can be radared while driving

Laser has to be stationary, radar can be moving as it uses the doppler shift principle to measure speed.

Estimated means that the cop estimated your speed then confirmed it with the speed measuring device.

In that case they usually check off estimated and radar.

Radar and laser are the same box.

Some cops will circle what they use, but will rarely tell you... They don't need to... All they need to do is put it in their notes on the back of they're copy of the ticket

if they are doing a standing radar and come into the middle of the road to stop you and gives you the ticket. does it effect your demarits?

Yes. As long as they issue the ticket to your face, it will effect your "demarits". When you get caught on photo radar (ie, the ticket is mailed) it will not effect your demerits.

just show up to court anyway i dont know how many times the cop hasnt shown up and i knew i was clearly guilty. whats the worst that can happen? you pay the ticket and even if he does show up you can still change your plea and ask to have it reduced.
