I wasn't too impressed with Cora's, and neither was John Gilchrist (5 out of 10).

My favourite is still Dairy Lane.

Cora's is the best by far and that's coming from a French guy who has been going there for Breakfast for years in various other provinces:rofl:

Nellies I thought was pretty crappy and really small.

Smuggler used to be good when you could get the prime rib for Sunday Brunch. We went in Jan, and its not what it used to be.

The Coup on 17th ave. It's a tiny place near the Yardhouse. Vegetarian menu.

Cora's is good if you like crepes and fruity stuff for breakfast. Don't go there expecting bacon, eggs and toast.

It will also run you about $15-20/per person after meal, taxes and tips.

How about for Sunday Brunch?

I was reading the old thread from way back, and it mentioned the Carriage House Inn.. Is that still the place to hit?

Smuggler's kinda went downhill
Other suggestions were Thomsons @ the Hyatt, The Palliser Hotel...

Any experiences at those places, or other suggestions?

+1 - It's a Vegetarian place but the food is great. I highly recommend the Mediterranean Scramble (eggs with red pepper, a bit of spinach, red onion, feta cheese, and calamata olives. Comes with potato & yam hash and toast too.)

Also it's right across from Classic Jacks not near the Yardhouse.

What are people generally ordering at the restaurants being recommended? I'm guessing it's not eggs and bacon; (in fact, I can't imagine driving all the way down to 130 St. SE for breakfast when it takes like 5 minutes to cook a meal of eggs, bacon and toast.)

Pfantastick is my favourite breakfast place... something different that I would never be able to make at home.

Went to Cora's twice because everyone said it was the bomb. Got cold, mediocre food both times. One of my dad's pancakes was actually raw batter on the inside.

i didn't even know they were open for breakfast. how much would breakfast cost, approximately, for 2 people?

I thought it was very well priced. I think for both of us with orange juice and tip it came to ~35. Not bad considering dennys or nellies would cost about $25-30. The food was AWESOME, it was the prime rib holindase hash or something. So much too, we couldn't finish, packed it up and it made a great snack later in the day.

I went to the one in Market Mall, my server was Jay - gave great service and was a pretty cool guy.
