Well i am just about to get my new car and I need to get a nice alarm. I was looking into some proximity alarms, and I found that compustar looked the most reliable and didnt cost too much of a fortune. I was wondering If anybody had any other advice on car alarms, Or what they feel gets the most for least $$$.
If you're looking for a paging alarm/starter I'de definetly recommend the Compustar. I have it in my car and I'm very happy with it.
Compustar are the one's that pioneered the two way remote paging alarms so why not go with a trusted thing?! The Viper 790 is pretty good too....I wish my Compustar would vibrate like the 790 can.

Thnx i think i am going to go with the compustar 2WFM alarm. I found a pretty decent price with install, and it looks like an amazing system just because of the idea that it pages you.

I can match that. I talked to A&B though, and their prices there were a little different.

that 165 install at a&b cant include hood pin, starter kill, keyless etc. 12v's deal is near impossible to beat if he's giving all options for that price.

would you really want A&B or any place like that (ex. sounds around/ visons) to install your alarm. They're a little sketch if you ask me.

I've had alarms installed at A&B, as well as Visions, never any problems.

go to select auto and the guy there would do it for 450 installed or 500 if you have the chip in your key and this includes all opions
I got mine done at Select in the beginning of May.
Brett installed mine and did an awesome job...paid $480 for the Compustar and installation.
Got starter kill, anti grind, and hood, trunk, door pins in that price as well.

I'm game, would like it installed before it gets cold! I've PM'ed you, just waiting for reply.
Thanks!
$475 is my price then, with EVERYTHING.
If anyone is interested in a "group buy" say 5 or more people i will drop my price even lower.

I would possibly be interested in that.
Who are you exactly? Is this a business you have or are we getting hot alarms put on in your garage? :)

also their mechanics go through a screening process. there used to be a problem at some shops (not A&B, some other ones) where the mechanics would get liscnece plate #'s and raid the cars later cause your address n shit is on the recipet.

I have a 02 VW jetta with imobilizer. Ideally I want a shock/glass break and some other sensors - but I do NOT want another fob. I want my stock remote/key thing and that's it. And paging/text mesg/paging a cell phone would be cool.
Is this possible yet?

Yes. Black Widow's "Spider Web" network can send a text message to your cell phone in case the alarm is tripped.

Hrm - upon more research I'm leaning back towards a loaded compustar. CON: 2nd FOB, but so many features. I've been reading that VW installs are brutal hard - anyone know a place that can do it properly?
