Not as crazy as Switzerland, Singapore or Houston, but I'm planning on going to Vancouver permanently once this year is over.

Better place to live than all 3 however. If I could choose it would be where I live as well. WestVan ftw

Hopefully moving down to Chile or Argentina, although the O&G industry is pretty darn good here.

I've started looking at NS. My wife loves the ocean and the West coast is too expensive to find property on the water.

This is what I'm looking at: http://www.mls.ca/propertyDetails.aspx?&propertyId=5437597

Or this one:
http://www.mls.ca/propertyDetails.aspx?&propertyId=6735329

Or even this one...where you get 75 acres, a house PLUS a cabin and you have BOTH ocean AND lake frontages!!:
http://www.mls.ca/propertyDetails.aspx?&propertyId=6700765

Tons more. Pretty much have to be self-sufficient I think. Once I can sit mortgage free and have half a mil in the bank....I think we'll pull the plug here.

Right on man, I've had several guys in your position asking about NS, none of whom gave it any thought until they actually started looking and fell in love with it, and the prices! If she just wants to look at the ocean Halifax area is fine (but of course being just outside the city makes the prices climb fast, same as any city), but you are close to the city then. If she actually wants nice sandy beaches and swimming, then the northern shore is the place to be. Thats where I'm from, on the Northumberland straight, warmest beaches north of the carolinas between us and PEI. It would really pay to take a vacation there first to see the areas, and see what has to offer (You get around the place in a few days and have everything checked out, ha) July is great for weather, and a lot of stuff going on in the province..

I'm a farm boy, so I have no use for the city too much, I only used to go to halifax to party, and the occasional shopping trip. Otherwise having a place like New Glasgow 20mins away was fine and had everything you would need normally for businesses and some entertainment.

This is the site I watch most often:

http://www.hlmrealties.com/

They focus on the northern part of the province, I'm from Pictou county (pick-toe), but theres some nice spots in each of the county's, guysborough is pretty remote though, not much there. Any questions just let me know, I've talked a few guys into moving them and their families there! ha.. And I can't wait to get back to that life style myself. Nothing beats just hanging out on a deck with acres of land and pure quiet around you. Or a nice pub to hang out where everyone knows you.. cheer's:bigpimp:

^ Awesome, Supa...thanks for that link. I will definately keep you in mind for some Q&A's on NS.
I'm a big city born n bred Vancouverite, and have always lived in Big cities...but I'm definately tired of it now. I want to sit on my deck, with some fresh caught crab or lobster on the bbq, while I watch the sun go down and go for a spin on my quad.....

The east cost lifestyle really appeals to me. I play poker with a lot of "newfies" and East coasters and I like everything about them. Even the music...

We're planning on a two week vacation back there so get a "feel" for the place. Rent some little cabin close to the water.

Nice, heres all the links I have bookmarked for keeping an eye on things, but as I mentioned usually HLM is the one I watch most:

http://www.propertyguys.com/
http://www.privatelist.com/lists/ns.htm
http://www.remaxnewstyle.ca/office.asp?area=RuralPictou
http://www.macivor.ca/index.php

And everything you've mentioned you shouldn't have any trouble finding. Theres quad/skidoo trails all over the province, Around home we have the old rail line, that connects most towns and is groomed, combine that with cabins all along the way and it makes for some good times with poker rallys, and just going for a beer here and there as you tour around.. ha Be warned though, the province is A LOT slower in winter, but if you have little hobbies, or a ski doo, pick up hockey, etc. It's not hard to enjoy the slowness.
