I've been told my my optometrist that I have a type of corneal desease, and I'd like to chat with an Opthamologst about it.
I wasn't fully happy with the optometrist last time, so if I can skip stright to an opthamologist without a referral that would be great.

I think it's Keratoconus if anyone feels like looking it up.

Anyone have an eye specialist in Calgary or area they can reccomend?

which optometrist did you go to?
I believe opthamologist is a specialist, and does require a referral.

I have Keratoconus and from what I know there are only 2 opthomologists in town that specialize in it. De Mong and Huang (Can't recall his name right now). You will definitely need a referral to see them.

I have the same cornea problem, my current optometris Dr. Kaloni is down at optical in southcenter, she has been my optometris for the past 3 years now and she manage to get my vision to 20 in one eye and 30 on the other side, I haven't had to change contacts since I frist got them, I was amazed at the results I'm using rose K contacts and they are excellent a little bit of a pain at the start, but you get used to them. I'll pm you her number and info, she has seen this cornea problem so she is familiar with it, if you are not happy I'm sure she might give you a referall:thumbsup:

Is it Dr. Peter Huang? My dad goes to see him. And yeah you will need a referal. Hmm... if your optometrist told you you had it, wouldn't he/she have written you a referal on the spot?

Dr. Angus Kirk is a brilliant eye specialist... Operated on mine when I was 3. Not sure about referrals, but I think he's pretty much the best in the city. His office is in the Southcentre professional building.

Opthalmologist need referrals.

This is from an MD. Go see your family doctor to get one set if you are having problems with your optometrist.
