Looking at buying a winter/spare car. Might as well give a beyonder a sale.

Looking at picking up a Civic Si coupe. Wanna take a peek at one and order up something to my specs.

Lemme know if you work there. Thanks.

Rage I know someone good at Honda West but not at Crowfoot :(

rage2
03-18-2008, 01:19 PM
Yea, those are pretty much automated. I still get letters for the various benz's that I've bought over the years from Lone Star.

And ya, I'm looking to buy in Crowfoot. I figured for a car that cheap, it's not worth the drive half way accross the city to save a few hundred bucks .

What's the matter? Yaris not fast enough?

I bought the Yaris for Haysen. This is a spare car for me. I need more than 100hp for winter lol.

I drove the Yaris and the Fit and I liked the Yaris more. The rear seats on the Yaris RS sold me!

Went to look at the Civic and was kinda disappointed. I didn't realize how messed up that cluster looked . I really wanted a civic, reliable, zero worrying.

Going to check out VW GTI next I guess. Pay a bit more and get leather seats. Plus with DSG I can let my mom drive the car in the summer.

Any beyonders work at Northland VW before I head down?

did you drive it??

rage2
03-18-2008, 08:33 PM
No, I was told they don't have test drives for Si's.

I've driven the GTI DSG quite a bit cuz my bro has one in Chicago.

Honda's got some killer lease rates right now. VW, not so much lol.

gpomp
03-18-2008, 08:45 PM
the cuz salesmen at crowfoot are douche bags. my friend tried to test drive one and the guy basically told him some bullshit like "people don't test drive this car, they just buy it". he went to t&t to test drive one and ended up buying it there. seems like crowfoot is not in the business to sell cars...

expect to pay close to $8k more for the GTI if you get one with leather and DSG. if you factor in the difference in rates, then it's closer to $10k.

IMO, the civic is more fun to drive and you can't beat the sound of the engine, the steering, and the shifter. the GTI is more luxurious, has DSG, torque, and is faster in a straight line (even faster with a chip).

did you look at the mazdaspeed3? last i checked they were at 0%

haha that's EXACTLY what they told me. I'm like OK haha. I've never driven the new Si but from what I'm told everyone loves it, so I'm going with that.

I'm not a big fan of that cluster or the plastic on the civic. Or the cloth seats. But I guess thats where the $8k difference is.

DSG rocks and TQ rocks. That's the biggest complaint with my M3... it's faster than my E55 but the E55 FEELS way faster. Plus ya that chip is wicked.

Mazdaspeed 3 isnt even an option for me. It's a reliability nightmare.

if price/reliability weren't an issue i would probably go with the GTI. but the lease rates on the Si are just so good...

is the GTI better than the Si? yeah, probably. is it $8k better? no.

speaking of reliability, the mazda and vw are both considered unreliable.

http://www.jdpower.com/autos/Volkswagen/GTI/2008/Hatchback/ratings
http://www.jdpower.com/autos/Mazda/MAZDA3/2008/Hatchback/ratings

2/5 is the worst rating you can get.

if you can't already tell, i'm biased towards the si. but i'm sure the captain of the VW fanboy club, Aleks, will eventually post and tell you how much better the GTI is over the si.

I have had an Acura, Subaru, Honda, BMW and VW over the last 3 yrs how am I VW fanboy? :dunno:

Anyways Rage, go to T&T they will let you drive the Si and then go drive the GTi at Fifth ave, it's right next door. Cars are so different that one of the two will appeal way more to you.

VW just lowered their prices too so the actual difference is not as big as Gpump suggest. It's only $1500 more for the base vs base car equipped similarly. If you want the leather/sr and DSG 4dr, 18s the difference in the end will be 6-7K more. But you get DSG, leather, 18s, HIDs, one touch up and down windows all around, heated seats, auto dual zone climate control, fogs, etc etc there is a reason the price is higher lol...

The few grand was not a big deal for me because I wanted a GTi and dont mind paying a little more for something I like.

Also if you get the GTi 800 bux will get you 250hp and 300tq, your tranny might or might not like that depending how you drive LOL.

Are you in new car sales? If so I might take you up on that offer. I guess a pedo should buy from a pedo?

Lemme figure out if I can score a better deal on a GTI first. I really like the leather and power more, not to mention stock HID's, but if the payments are higher than my allowable lease writeoffs, I'm just gonna get the civic.

Here's how both cars spec'd out so far from the 2 dealerships I went to. Lease rates are $0 down.

GTI + Leather + DSG = $35,000 = $643/mnth
Civic + Aero Kit = $29,800 = $415/mnth

The lease rates were 2.9% for the Si, and 5.9% for the GTI. I think the GTI has a lower 3 year residual too.

Ya, no need to drive the GTI. I've driven the GTI lots in Chicago, my bro has a DSG one down there. I liked it a lot.

Yea, I listed out the price differences and it wasn't much. It was the lease #'s that had a huge gap. I need at least 1 car on lease, now that the E55 has been written off.

Yes the lease difference will be pretty big due to rates and residuals. If that's the big factor then the Si is hard to beat in the segment. The rate was 1.5% during xmas and january but it went up to 2.9% recently.

Go drive the Si and tell us what you think.

Get the CSX type S! probably the same price as GTI... awesome car... and they do have one to test drive.. (at least at silverhill), oh and the least rate i think its either 1.9% or .9%

Ya hondas definately depreciate way less than anything else. Checked out the CSX today and it was pretty nice. I like the look of the Si coupe more tho.

It's weird, every dealership I went to, nobody is willing to move on price at all. Everyone wants to sell at MSRP. A friend of mine had a hookup at Southcenter VW, and hooked me up. Picking up the car tomorrow. Got wheels and suspension ordered already, should be fun!

Black, DSG and leather. And they had one in stock. Lucky me.

I need an extra car for a few weeks next month. Plus the insurance paid out on the E55 last week, so I needed lease payments for my vehicle writeoff.
