Any Volvo C30 owners out there? Are you liking your car? Did you import it? Any problems?

My friend has one. He likes it.

It's alright, sort of pricey for what you get. Unique for sure. I can't convince myself to like the back end though.

Not that pricey if you grab one in the states. $27,000 loaded to the nuts. The Canadian pricing for all Volvos is a joke at best. 1/3 difference on their entire line up. :(

Good to hear he likes it.

importing Volvo's from the US is a bit trickier - all cars must be approved for import by Volvo Canada and any and all subsequent modifications required for compliance must me made by a volvo dealer.

it doesn't take much for the c30 to look awesome though - factory kit, and shave it and it's a whole new vehicle. There is a really nice C30 by my work in Kensington.

The S40's are nice too:

Volvo Canada published what is required to import a car into Canada, you can even apply for the documents on line which is nice. What gets me is that once the car is landed and all good Volvo Canada makes you get a safety inspection that must be done at a official Volvo Canada dealership, not a RIV requirement Some people on the Volvo websites have been mentioning that the two dealers here in Alberta are charging $1600+ for this 2 hour inspection. About $800 dollar an hour, maybe I'll get a hooker with the price of that?

I've been following this guys blog closely to see what happens.

Are you thinking about grabbing one? worth it for the price savings to get one from the states?

doubt you'll find many volvo owners on here seeing how their average buyer age is 50+

but who knows... lexus' average buyer age is in the 60s and there's tons of them on here

Like I mentioned above I can save over $10,000 with the options I want. I just started researching the S40 and the price gap is even wider.

Breaking it down:

Canadian model:
C30 T5 Model Base: $31,995
C30 T5 Model Base + Sport Styling Package (The way I want it): $35,845
C30 T5 Model Base + Sport Styling Package + Freight + DP = $37,460 (No Taxes included)

American model:
C30 Version 2.0 (Which is the C30 T5 + Sport Styling Package): $25,700
C30 Version 2.0 + Delivery = $26,445 (No Taxes included)

$37,460 - $26,445 = $11,005 difference between US and Canadian models (before taxes)

Are you fucking serious?

Last year November Volvo Canada had a $5,000 cash back on all their cars to help close the gap. Now Volvo Canada has some lame ass finance rates.

I'm going to take one for a test drive this weekend before I get too worked up over the situation. If it performs as promised and the dealer can close the gap to with ~$5000 of the US price I'll be impressed.

This is what I thought when I was touring through the auto show over the weekend. I was just cruising around the Volvos and from the front the C30 appeared like gramps car but looking at the side of it I was like 'where did the rest of the car go?' I hopped inside and I just fell in love, that and my friend has got his MS3 coming in mid-April so I think I want to roll in something a little different.

IIRC, there were news about a C30-R coming soon? Or is that just a rumor?

The C30 is a fabulous car
But when it comes down to space, it is absolutely unpracticle
It is a re-branded Ford ST
I loved the ST when I drove it around in Brittain

but remember... apparently Valentine's volvo will only give you attention either if you are "50" or wearing a suit to test drive cars on a Saturday afternoon

those pompous pricks

Hot, no new power no new suspension. Kind of just paying for the different body kit.

Bought my V40 from Valentine. Nice car. Horrible dealership. the one decent salesman doesn't work there anymore and the service department is a complete joke. I had a problem with one of my door locks. After they fixed the lock, they didn't install the handle properly and now it doesn't sit flush with the door. WTF is with that? I've had other co-workers have similar experience with the service department there.

I won't buy another Volvo until a good dealership comes into town.
