Actually, the guy's probably in marketing by trade. The format he has set up the auction for is make an offer. By listing an insane price, the listing has probably been crossposted everywhere on the net, thus increasing his exposure exponentially. Nothing stops anyone from making a realistic offer of $75k and him accepting it thus selling his car!

What an idiot. Doesn't he realize that a 1992 F40 costs more than $450,000?

I agree that's exactly what it is, in a response to one of the questions, he states that the auction is "make an offer" it's good marketing, it's drawn all of us into viewing it.

Looks like he was kidding about the F40 too...

The best eBay vehicle auction I've seen is the one where the guy bitched on the listing that he hated having people watch the auction and forbade everyone from watching in big red font. So of course, he ended up having thousands of people watching his auction...

This is actually a very smart way of getting people to see his auction.

New M3. The E46 M3 was special when it first came out, but by todays standards it is pretty slow.

Smart guy, must have a lot of views, I'm sure he will get some good coin, I've seen some marked up to $100 000 from the dealer.

well i wouldn't exactly say their "slow" by today's standards. I can't think of very many cars that will out run an e46 m3 that have a price tag less then $40,000 even today. I didn't just buy my car because it was quick either.

Their sweet cars, only reason im selling is to upgrade! :D

Q: You do know many dealerships acorss America is selling around 80-100K with mark-ups. Why don't I just go to the dealership and buy FOUR with this price. Shouldn't this listing post on April 1??

A: Yes, but my car has the special edition VIN number. One of a kind.

but looking at the history he turned down a $185000 offer, unless he did it himself with a ghost acount to see if others would beat it.

They're slow by today's standard. There's lots of used cars under $40k that'll destroy the M3.
